Does anyone know what kind of guns were used in the Newtown tragedy? I was under the impression that it was handguns in the actual shooting but there was an ar15 left in the trunk of the car. Not looking to start a political debate over gun control, just looking for the answer to the question. Thanks.

Yeah, I had heard conflicting info also. I remember hearing on the first day that the AR was found in the trunk and that handguns were used in the actual shootings. Then when I heard how many shots ended up in many of the victims I found that hard to believe. The reason I ask is because this incident seems to be the "straw that broke the camels back" in the anti assault weapon movement. Just wondering if an assault weapon had even been used in this incident.

There has not been any 'confirmed' info, early reports were handgun only. Then the coroner stated all shots were by a long gun, then all records were sealed and autopsy reports are not available to the public. There are many, many more questions about this whole incident. BUT, that would be a different thread altogether.Enjoying a rum and coke, just didn't have any coke...

I've heard conflicting reports the shootings were done with either handguns, AR15, or both. I also heard the AR15 was found in the trunk (which would mean it wasn't used in the school shootings) HOWEVER, looking at the video of police removing the weapon from the trunk, it doesn't look like an AR15 to me.

The AR was used according to excerpts from the coroner's report.Enjoying a rum and coke, just didn't have any coke...

Trying to find the video of the actual interview. All the conspiracy nuts have flooded Google and YouTube with heavily edited crap.
I saw the video footage of the cops pulling the shotgun out of the car. I know difference between a shotgun and an AR-15. It was a shotgun.-Rick

Your right about the shotgun being pulled from the trunk I saw that video too. I saw the interview, no need to find a link. I remember him saying the exact same thing. I do find it odd that there has been so much conflicting information given about something that should be very routine for police....Enjoying a rum and coke, just didn't have any coke...

We know what happened and who was involved. The cops and coroner need to document the details of what they found, put it in a report and then file it.
They need to leave the politics and conspiracy crap out of it.-Rick

Not to state the obvious here but even without a report can't officers on the scene determine the difference between either .223 casings on the ground vs. 9mm or .40S&W?Rudy
