I'm no fan of Gibson, but I'm appalled by this crap. Apparently, Gibson was targeted over the rosewood matter the past couple of years, while others were left alone, because they (Gibson) contributed to Mitt Romney's presidential campaign:

I was thinking the same thing. Gibson spent several hundred thousand to defend against all of this, not to mention the time spent and the distraction/interruption. The same thing has happened to several supporters of Obama's opponents.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying there's more to the story than what we the public are privy to know. There always is. If it was all about the wood then how come Martin wasn't raided? They use more rosewood than anyone that I know of. It's undeniable that Gibson was singled out.

Gibson had previous violations of the Lacey act I believe. Perhaps Martin didn't have a rep for shady wood purchasing habits?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and I'm not seeing it. They claim that it is "eerily similar" to the IRS matter, but I think "vaguely similar" is more like it. When the capitalists are misbehaving and it's spanking time, the biggest kid gets spanked first. Them's the rules. Who's bigger than Gibson when it comes to guitar companies?

wow. From what I can glean from that article (an article about someone else's article?) is that EVERY other guitar manufacturer that also uses East Indian Rosewood are Democratic contributors. Because that's the only reason they got away with breaking the same laws that Gibson did.

Or, maybe, they didn't break the law, Gibson did and the recent IRS scandal is an opportunity to retroactively cry foul about some govt conspiracy? I didn't see in either article any mention of contributions to Romney's presidential campaign. Only that small contributions were made to a couple of Republican representatives. Should anyone who makes any contribution of any amount to any Republican candidate at any level now be fearful that the govt is making designs to kick down their door? That makes much more sense than the idea that Gibson did something wrong and had to take their lumps.
