I have a Benchmade balisong and I can literally shave with it. It's pretty sweet.

I get any knife I have to close to shaving with. 1. I tend to cut myself being stupid sometimes and 2. The razor edge lasts one cut and its no longer a razor edge. Time wasted if you ask me. But that's just me.

An ex-gf gave me a nice Gerber a while back; I have sadly misplaced it. When she gave it to me, she said the gift of a knife from a female to a male had a hidden meaning in her (Chinese) culture, and she did not tell me what that meaning was.

I actually use one of those hand held things you drag the blade through, primarily. I use a stone on occasion but I find I dont really have the patience for it, especially since Im just gonna go to work the next day and cut cardboard and pretty much everything else that will dull a blade pretty quick. When I was younger I could stone sharpen so well that the weight of the blade would let the knife slice through paper without any extra force but gravity. That takes a lot of time to get that sharp. Furthermore, Ive been using utility knives for so long that they have furthered my laziness when it comes to sharpening.
