Floridians - vacation tips?

What are some of the things one shouldn't miss in Florida (apart from obvious stuff like the Everglades, Disney World, Kennedy Space Center, Key West)?

I will be based in Ft. Lauderdale. Are there any fun places I need to visit, like pawn shops, guitar stores, flea markets etc? The kind of stuff that maybe locals keep to themselves?

Islamorada and Key West, go fish for Tarpon. It doesn't suck.

My folks used to have a house down there. Gulf coast is much nicer, IMHO. Sanibel is a little sleepy, but hella relaxing for beach time. Cool for families, too. Tried to get there again last year, but got diverted by hurricane. Oh well, sometime again.

It's hot as f**k in the summertime, though, dude. Oppressive. Drink lots of water.

Haha, yeah, it doesn't sound all that awesome now that you mention it like that.

I'll try to get my fair share of the beach, booze and beach bikini's galore... but maybe I'll be able to get away for 5 minutes and sneak into some music store when she's down at the beach looking for sixpacks..

One thing I really wanna do is go on one of those airboat rides in the Everglades. Looks awesome!
