  • I'm almost ready to throw in the playoff towel for my team and root for a further tank job to get a higher pick. They can't stay healthy and can't tread water while other teams win. The long run for Detroit may be over here in a couple of weeks. Also I'm sick of people thinking the dead things come back healed and ready to rock after the Olympics...wtf? They have 10 players in the Olympics, they'll be injured or worthless for a week to 10 days after returning if healthy enough to play

    • I am not in favor of nhl players in the Olympics. I know everyone should have an opportunity to play for their country, but these guys in the pros have to be committed to their respective clubs. they're getting good money to play in the nhl, so possibly jeopardizing their season and letting the fans down by playing in the Olympics and getting hurt isn't too cool in my opinion, and it stops the season to boot. just what I think, not saying i'm right or wrong.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

+1 That's like your boss paying you to go work for another company for ten days. I agree. The Olympics should not have pro athletes. Especially with what some of these guys are getting paid. If I owned a team I would definitely bar the people who worked for me from risking their health by playing in a non NHL game. Not only is the risk factor there but it's extra games on top of an already grueling season of 82 games plus the playoffs. I wouldn't want my players getting beat up and worn out for nothing when I am paying them good money to win a Stanley cup. It's a conflict of interests.

This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

          • The league and PA have agreed to Olympic participation for 2 main reasons. 1. Most players love having the chance to represent their country in the Olympics. 2. It gives exposure of international audiences to see the level of talent available in the NHL. Think of it as free advertising.

Yeah those are pluses but I think the risk outweighs the reward in this situation. As soon as a big name star get's a bad injury the league is going to shit.

Same here. You're paid to play in the NHL, that is your job, not playing for your country. It also condenses the NHL schedule so they can squeeze in 82 regular season games AND the Olympics in so the Cup finals are not in July

Players still have the opportunity to play for their countries, just do it before you go pro

I would call it an attempt to fight more than a fight. I don't know who Fleury is trying to fool though. I ran into him at Morton's steak house about five months ago and he's about 6'2" and maybe 150 Lbs. soaking wet. He shook my hand and I have small hands but my hand looked like Andre the giants in comparison to his. Budaj would have kicked his ass all over the ice. He is the skinniest man I have ever met whose that tall. He looked like he could open locked doors with his fingers. I don't care what his weight on his hockey cards say. He's not 180lbs. in full goalie equipment. I am 6'2" 185 lbs and I know I outweighed him by a minimum of 25lbs. EDIT; The girl he was with was smoking hot though.

I can back that up...I ran into him at the Ross Park Mall a couple of weeks before Christmas. He's beyond scrawny...actually looked like a skinny chick from behind He's every inch of 6' 2" though...I'm 6'1" and he was slightly taller than me (while weighing slightly more than my sister ).

If Lefty or I were good Pens fans, we would have taken his ass out and forced a goalie change

                          • If my Blackhawks can keep Kane off the sauce and Toews smiling then their chances are good for 2 Cups in a row.

                            If not well...
