my fuckin' neighbor scotty grew a beard last year, and his, not to mention your hawks won. I don't buy into the beard when the team is as good as the hawks are. they remind me of the 2000 Yankees a little, didn't have the best record, but come playoff time, nobody really wants to face them until they really have to.

The Pens' mediocrity continues...and won't likely end against the Kings tonight. They'll be ousted in the 1st round of the playoffs if they don't start playing with some fire and attitude. I think Johnny Weir could probably start for them right now and raise the level of toughness.

after the bruins and the pens, the east is weaker than the west. it's pretty clear to me at least. flyers are starting to play decently, rangers i'm not sold on at all. montreal made a great move by adding vanek.

Yeah, that sucked...he was in some serious pain. I hate to see good players get hurt like that.

Mike milbury is a fuckin idiot. That hit was as clean as it gets. There's a reason you're told to keep your head up. That being said... Someone on the hawks shoulda stepped up. It shows how skilled, but how soft Chicago is, with the exception of bollig.

I disagree. Here's why:

The only difference between leaving your feet for a hit and that hit, is timing. That hit is not just a hit but an intent to injure. The athletes in the sport today are highly trained and very strong. Timing was the key there. He lowers his shoulder and essentially jumps with all of that leg thrust like he is doing a squat in the gym only instead of controlled contraction with weight it is fast contraction with no weight.

The timing comes in where his feet leave the ice, so he's not flying into Toews, he is launching him. This is dirty shit disguised as a 'clean hit' like that hit on Lucic that the dough-head in Montreal threw. Sure, clean hit but he was going for the knees. Speaking of knees...there's a penalty for going knee-on-knee but not for launching someone into the boards like Orpik did to Toews not to mention, the shoulder clearly makes contact with Toews' head...


This pic is at the point of impact. That's a head shot.

Orpik was at the same height, semi-crouched and could have hit him cleanly but he didn't. He began to elevate and that all important timing put his shoulder right in Toews' neck and head as Orpik thrust up. As the impact is made the feet come off the ice and Orpik follows through with his arm, in part to protect himself - to hell with the guy he is hitting.
If I was Toews, Orpik would wear my stick right around his neck the next time I saw him. Fine be damned.

If that would have been Crosby, there would be an NHL intervention.

That would be kinda funny if Marchand would have flinched. Looks like a Chicago fail to me. If I was #36, I'd be pretty embarrassed...embarrassed enough to sign with Toronto and be out almost the entire year, in fact.

Disagree. I'm the biggest hawks homer on this board. Toews got caught looking at the puck in his feet and got fuckin smoked. I do agree, however, that if it was Crosby on the recieving end, it woulda been 5+ a game for whoever hit him.
