The reason that Ovi is owning the minus stat is that nobody else on the team scores. On the entire roster the have no 40 goal players, no 30 goal players and only 2 players who have made the 20 goal level. So, who is adding to his plus stat?

Think about that...and it's not like Ovi doesn't pass the puck. I have seen on the highlights all year - Ovechkin passes to someone and someone gets stymied.

It's the same as the year that Washington won the President's trophy but not the regular season part...the part in the playoffs where nobody was doing anything so Ovi had to try to do it himself.

For conversation's sake, I will counter with the following:

Washington's 225 goals is 11th in the league. If you knock 10 goals off Ovi's total in order to place him back with the other leaders, the 215 total would place Washington 16th. Of those bottom 14 teams with less than 215 goals, 10 have a respectable .500 or better win percentage and 5 of them have more points than the Caps.

From those figures I conclude the Caps aren't goal or goal scorer deprived.

if ovechkin cared? he scored over 50 goals, I think half of them on the powerplay as well, which leads me to believe that the caps have a great powerplay but suck at 5 on 5, and on defense too. he's a tanker on backchecking but he also has a shitload of ice time out there to have stuff go wrong on him as well. it's far from all his fault, if at all.

it's dicey in Washington, I want ovi to be a blueshirt, won't happen, but I can still want it to. fuck I am fired up for these playoffs, this year really felt so much better than that douchebag half a season last year.

Alex passes blame to his teammates a bit more than you'd expect from a guy wearing the C. He could've lied and said he'd try to work on his game just to calm the storm.

The whole situation in Washington seems strange and looks bad on paper, but truthfully, I haven't watched them play.

The playoffs are finally here...let the real hockey begin!!! Nice win for the Pens last night, but the BJs probably feel pretty good about themselves after the showing they made...they came to play and may even have a boost in confidence now seeing that the game could have easily gone their way with another break or two.
