Funky game 5 in Chicago last night....I think they were real lucky to tie that up. Having said that I think they have a better shot of winning that series than losing it. That win probably is going to push them past LA.
The King will bounce back and be sharp. The blueshirts have to score some goals and stay out of the box. Lundqvist can stop pucks but can't score the goals.shawnlutz.com

Appears to me to be the worst officiated playoffs I can recall...not sure if it's just a short memory or if they really are that much worse, but it sure seems like it. And as bad as they seemed in the earlier rounds, they've certainly upped their ineptitude during the conference finals. The Habs and Kings are getting away with the stuff that ruins the sport for me by allowing lesser players to drag skill players down to their level.

I totally agree Bill. I typically don't whine about officiating as it can point to being a sore loser but I watched a lot of playoff hockey (not just Detroit) and the officiating has been a joke. I actually had the thought that the refs are controlling more of the outcome of the games than the players themselves. Calls are totally inconsistent within the same game. If they wanted to do they can pick who wins and who loses. You see it all of the time, and not just this playoffs but the entire season as well. A team gets a lead, doesn't really let up on the gas yet you see some phantom call to let the other team back in the game. I'm sorry but to call a penalty in OT should not happen unless you blatantly kill a guy...then you get 5 lol.
The make a big deal over water bottle spraying or icing the netminder but continue to look like idiots on all of the diving. Too much diving going on Montreal are the Varsity diving team and Bruins Junior Varsity diving team. I personally want that shit out of the game.shawnlutz.com

I think Cliff if you pay a little more attention you'll see this happening to every team in just about every game. I don't like the new wuss rules and the player should be allowed to run the guy into the wall like they used to be. Players are smart too and know it is going to get called so the forward will go straight at the d-man after dumping even if said d-man is giving him the path...forward just runs into the D and they call the D for interference Just because you push a puck past me doesn't mean you get a free pass to get by me...if you can make it go for it but the D should be able to bury your ass right there for trying.
I know I'm getting off topic a bit but the whole removal of red line, all of the various interference calls, one handed hooks, slashing called because a weak composite stick snaps on a love tap and all of the rule tweaks were supposed to generate more offense thereby making the game more appealing to non fans of the game but offense isn't up. Defense wins, always will but now it seems that we have two polor opposites in the game o fNHL hockey, you have regular season hockey and playoff hockey...two totally different games of hockey and ther edidnt used to be that big of a difference...at least not like today.shawnlutz.com

For sure, hell with hybrid icing. I knew it would be trouble come playoff time. Let the players battle or race all the way to the puck fore heavens sake. What that rule doesn't take into consideration is that just because a player is a half step behind the guy at the hash marks doesn't always mean the guy in front is gonna win the race...players with speed can make up a half step in a stride or two.
I'd much rather them turn the game back over to real men who know how to battle for a loose puck vs the pussy interference and what not. I'm not wanting clutching and grabbing but let players stick check, pick line in NBA, battle for position in front of the nets, ride out or paste players to the wall on dump ins and let them race for the puck on icing.
The league should focus on head shots and concussions, not these bullshit rules that fuck up a great game.shawnlutz.com

Cliff it is always that way in the playoffs. MLB the strike zone changes. NBA, NFL,NHL they all allow a little more too. Star treatment is nothing new either. Kings are absolutely taking what they are being given. Crawford is not playing as well as Quick. At least Kaner finally adjusted! He was getting some Gretzky treatment with out a McSorley to make the other team pay.I keep the bible in a pool of blood
So that none of its lies can affect me
