    • Im an Islander fan so theres no love lost for the rangers here, but.... I have to say that the rangers got the shaft at least twice that series both times leading to the game tying or winning goal. It should be 3-2 rangers. The trip penalty and the uncalled goalie interference were bogus. Are the kings a better team? Absolutely. Did they outplay the rangers most of the time, sure, but they keep score for a reason.I like to watch hockey and I hate to see a couple of bad calls decide a series like that. But on the plus side, the islanders are bulking up for next season for the last hurrah in Nassau. Im not sure if I'll follow them to brooklyn, especially if they change the uniforms to black and white. Yuck.

      • So, the Pens hire Mike Johnston from the WHL. I know nothing about him...good hire or not?

I don't know anything about him, but hopefully he can coach on the fly and actually make in game adjustments. I'm still kind of surprised they fired Shero first. I felt Bylsma was the biggest part of the problem. I would like for the Pens to have a Ted Nolan or Lindy Ruff type of coach. Hopefully this guy works out. I always thought Kevin Constantine did a good job with having such a crappy defensive squad back in the late 90's. I'll never forget the eighth seed Pens knocking out the first seed Devils in 1999. That was some damn good Pens hockey to watch that year.

          • I don't know...the Pens may have been seeded 'low' in '99 but that was a team that could really turn it on. Not only that but I guess some teams just have other teams' number...like Montreal and Boston - that's just infuriating.
My Duncan Designed pickups are way better than Seymour Duncan regular pickups you fanboy.

Yeah...too bad the forum doesn't have a minimum IQ.

I think you have to look at both of them. It wasn't Bylsma who put together a roster of nutless cupcakes which makes Shero just as culpable (if not more so). Bylsma failing to insert what little toughness the team had into the lineup as well as an inability to make in-game adjustments sealed his fate IMO.

There's a lot of truth to some teams having another team's number, but back in the 90's it appeared to me that it was the Devils who had the Pens' number. The Pens had a lot of offensive firepower in '99 but defense and goaltending were weak at best...kinda like today.

                • the pens have had the rangers number forever, except for right now! god damnit I will ride that series win for possibly 10 years , which is how long it will take to happen again.
Not helping the situation since 1965!
