I was thinking it would look good as more of a hand-chiseled into the wood type of logo, rather than something overly smooth and painted. Not necessarily butchered into the wood with a spoon, but say chiseled but not sanded. Maybe not as rough-hewn as Hellbat's idea, but somewhere along those lines.
