This is from the a Porno flick call Sacred Sin. Ed did the Soundtrack for it several years back... just before he really fell off the wagon. He played all instruments on the track.

I knew he was an executive producer on that but I didn't know he did the music too. That's pretty cool. I've never seen the flick but I did hear about it from some friends before.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

I didn't see the film either. I...uh...also heard about it from Lefty's friends.

The only thing Ed ever did wrong was 'Not dying'
Which gave people ample time and reasons to hate the guy, and him enough time and reasons to hate people
(in an enviroment where this was bound to happen)

            For me?
I don't own any VH albums and only know mostly the 'famous' songs
He wasn't the reason I started playing, nor someone who's level I strive to be at
I'm indifferent to his life or personality

but whenever I hear one of his songs, there's something going on in there that I can't quite understand
which to me seems like he's on a whole different level than other players

When Ed plays,... fuck hell, yeah he rules,... me, and most every other bugger that dared to touch a guitar

LMMFAO!!!!That just reminded me of the old Beavis and Butthead thing when people accused them of doing something and there response was always "Uh.. no... that was uh... other kids."

I would highly recommend you go out and pick up Van Halen, Van Halen II, Women and children first, Fair Warning, Diver down and 1984 at the bare minimum. These are pretty much required listening for ANY guitar player whose into rock n roll in my opinion. At least they should be. I can listen to any of those albums cover to cover and never skip a track. They're killer.

Ed's not overly fond of Diver Down. He didn't like the number of cover songs. I was never a super fan of him but he's very underrated for his rhythm groove. I think he's at as best when rocking a fast boogie. (ie Loss of Control, Hot For Teacher, Sinners Swing) You can tell he grew up listening to a lot of swing style music.

100% correct bro. He certainly did. I read an interview with him and DLR and they both said they listen to a lot of swing and motown growing up. Regardless of if he's fond of it or not you have to admit those albums I named are great to rock out to. I love pretty much all Van Halen. I was never a big fan of the Hagar stuff though. I just never really thought he fit the band as well as Dave. Dave is like an awesome train wreck and the typical "good time guy." He always looked like Van Halen was a never ending party and Sammy just looked like "Oh well I am stuck here now." Plus a lot of the Hagar stuff was a little too pop rock for me compared to the early guitar and drum driven rhythm they had back then.

no, this is why EVH ruled. this was their best tour, apex and peak of the band. they started to decline after fair warning in my opinion. it's pretty impossible to best those first 4 albums, perfection is not an accident, nor can it be improved upon, there's nowhere else to go but down after a phenomenon like that.................. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlZlOnLIelE

and this of course, any tour, album, song, etc. through '81 is America's greatest rock and roll issue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3fqJq6piYQ

EVH - Is the reason I play guitar. Hes the reason I started playing guitar... I don't care what anyone says, he IS the most influential guitar player of all time....Yes...of ALL time. Is there any rock guitarist that hasn't been inspired/influenced by him in some way? If there are....very few.....Love him or hate him......he started a HUGE movement, that still continues to this day....

I did, and I thought it was an amazing performance. Too bad he never went and did any guitar oriented Jazz or anything other than high school rock.

+1 I agree that he is the most recognized and influential guitarist since Hendrix. He changed the whole approach to the instrument by doing things people couldn't believe were possible. He's not the reason I started playing as I said on my first post I was forced by my mother to pick a guitar up at the age of eight. But he is the reason I fell in love with the guitar and why I didn't quit playing even when it got tough being forced to learn classical pieces and being made to learn theory which suck when you're just a kid of eight. My dad gave me a cassette of "Fair Warning" when I was 9 and that was it. I wanted to be like Eddie.

To this day, there is still no better front man than DLR. Love him or hate him, he's got the swagger and attitude that can't be beat.
