  • Cool gun show find

2002 Robinson Armament M96 recon carbine.
I had the 20 in barreled version when the first came out in 99 and sold it 2005.
This one is a 16 in barrel which is a bit more compact.
Based on the Eugene Stoner 63.
    Gas piston operation.

That is a very cool find! Makes me want to go play COD Black Ops now.

I had an original as well. I sold it after they dropped plans to offer the belt fed conversion.

I had a few friends with the pre-recall ones, we had to register them... they had a hell of a time dealing with DOJ about getting replacements because of all the stupid gun laws here.

It shot well enough. I think I liked my SL8 better. Can't really touch an AR, but the Robinson was supposed to have all sorts of great 1st party conversion stuff, but almost all of it fell through.

RA was a good company to deal with, but their plans were probably too ambitious for the size of their operation.

      Grats! Neat gun.

Not familiar with those. By the looks of how skinny the barrel is, I'm guessing it's a .223. Does it take proprietary magazines or standard AR mags ?

Takes 223/556 and std AR magazines.
They have become a bit of a collectors item looks like.Prices are pretty high still even after the discontinuation of them.
My serial number starts with an RA so its got all the upgrades/ trigger group improvements which is a plus.
Yeah I remember hearing about the belt fed conversion stuff.
My old one shot very well and not sure what I traded for but I'm glad to have the carbine/recon version.
They are doing the XCR models now which seems pretty popular.

Things are going pretty well. We've been busy and that's helping time go by quickly. I'm also getting to travel to a lot different places than previous trips here and the new scenery is appreciated.

All in all, I can't complain. How have you been, bro?
