It should just be 3 ingredients, propylene glycol, vegetible glycol and some flavoring... At least 2000 chemicals less than a traditional cig.... Yes smoking is dumb, but a lot of folks are trying to slowly quit with a healthier alternative, and get past a habit that's pretty tough to quit! I myself vape, and will occasionally when drinking still have a ciggerette(but I'm getting close to 5 packs/month(sharing with my beautiful wife). We both enjoy vapeing it's cleaned, less intrusive on your friends(smell thier clothed)it's totally chill really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoying a rum and coke, just didn't have any coke...

Smoking is not "dumb". If you don't want to do it for whatever reason that's fine, but don't bash those of us who enjoy doing something as "dumb". We as musicians get enough of that shit from non-musicians throughout our lives from the type of music we play to the type of guitar we play to the fact that we do play at all, especially as we get older.

Reading this thread reminds me how much it sucks being addicted to nicotine. I was a pack and a half a day smoker who didn't particularly want to quit, but I did, going on 4.5 years now. Looking back and reading threads like this really highlights how much nicotine runs and dictates your life. To any of you who want to quit, I truly wish you the best of luck. The first year is going to suck, you'll probably get more sick then you have been for a while, but after that first year of being smoke free, you'll start to feel better... Just takes time but it is worth it! Think of how many more Jacksons you can buy with the savings!

At $40.00 a carton x 2 cartons a month $80 bucks x 12 = $960.00 a year. I'll bet there are others who would save more than I would, just simply based on where they live. Congrats on staying quit RobRR, I had quit for 2 yrs and picked them back up, two things you where right about, every thing tastes better and ya feel better.

I smoked Parliaments where are about $8 a pack here. So minimum 10 packs a week @$80 or $4160 a year... yeah, I wasted a LOT of money on that crap.

Ill tell ya what though, I didnt get the whole "taste better" thing everyone always talked about. I didnt notice anything different when it came to food lol... I did gain some weight when I quit though.

I quit smoking last November. I was a light smoker (2-3 a day, unless I was on guard duty or a prolonged patrol and couldn't eat for two days or so) and after a month of quitting, my run times dropped from ~6:15/mile to averaging 5:50/mile, my strength increased in every plane of motion, and I genuinely believe it helped me better condition for the job I have now. It's all very subjective, but I feel better having quit smoking.

A lot of guys at work dip, and a lot of us will kick back and smoke a cigar with each other, but that's about the extent of it.

I have absolutely no problem with guys who smoke. I look at it like any other vice: you do you, just don't try to push your shit on me or explain yourself. Life's too short to try and justify everything.

I get a bag of tobacco that costs about $12, and a carton of 200 tubes that costs $2.50. That $12 bag will yield roughly 2.5 cartons, give or take a pack. So roughly less than $6 per carton, and I get just as much flavor as I did with Marlboro reds without the cost.

Do you have some type of device for filling the tubes or is it done "manually" by hand?

Rolling machine. Zen SuperShooter. About $60 locally. Stuffs the tobacco into the tube nice and neat. Then there are the Tops hand-crank devices that do the same thing. Those can generally be found for $20 or so.

Only trouble with the Zen is it has to be replaced every few months. They're designed for shorter-cut cigarette tobacco, and I use long-cut pipe tobacco, which is taxed differently (lower) hence the savings. I've gone through 3 machines this year, though, but only 2 last year, so they're breaking more often. It's always the same piece that breaks, the same way. It's the first thing that was put in, so it's the last thing that comes out, and it's such shitty plastic that even Gorilla glue won't hold it.

I think the next one that breaks, I'm taking that piece in to work and see if one of the tool and die guys can fabricate one out of stainless or something. Hell, even wood might be better.

Do like I do Newc, roll 'em by hand, it gives you the advantage (apart from shelling out $60 every few months) of not smoking more than necessary
In first place because you don't have a 'stash' on hand which you can light up within seconds, and the lack of a filter also increases the intake of smoke which gives you
less inclination for another one for a longer period of time

I've been rolling heavy tobacco for over 20 years now, and I hardly ever smoke more than 100 grams a week
If I were to smoke cigs, I would do 2+ packs a day, because they are more readily consumable and you suck away half in one intake of smoke

I don't smoke, but quite a few people at my work do. We work close to each other (chairs right next to each other, no dividers), so I would always get choked out when the smokers came back from a break. With e-cigs I don't notice any smell on the smokers when they come back, so as a non-smoker, I have loved the e cigs.

I never got above a pack a day, actually, and have been smoking for 30 years.

Back in the 90's I used to roll my own smokes. Got tired of being pulled over or questioned about my joint all the time. I used to keep a the receipts for the tobacco in my car to show the cops.
