He was one of the Funk Brothers --- the Motown studio musicians (yeah, a whitey doing motown) that wrote and recorded all of the old hits. He is currently in Rare Earth.
I was watching "Phil Collins: Back to Detroit" on the Smithosian Channel onDemand. The first thing I saw was the Shark Fins (this is the Jackson forum, afterall) on this weird red fretboard. So I took a closer look at it and saw all of those weird oddites.
Of course, it was custom made.
It was made by another Detroit guy - Ed Goetz.
Not a partscaster.
I don't see how a parts guitar can be called a custom its just a mutt.
Nothing wrong with a mutt IMO.
The fingerboard looks like baked maple and Warmoth sells those all day long.
