This happened in November but this is the first I've heard of this:
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -A Las Vegas woman who was found dead at a camp site last week in California was also the daughter of a notable guitar maker in the Valley.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Lindsey Star Roman, 28, was found unresponsive on Oct. 25 at 10:47 p.m. in a desert area just off Highway 95, north of Interstate 40 near Needles.
A foreign visitor camping in the desert found the woman and then informed law enforcement, the sheriff's office said. After arriving on the scene, deputies determined the woman was dead. Homicide detectives were investigating the death.
Jesse Amoroso, a friend of the woman's family, recalled working with Lindsey and her father Ed Roman in their store.
"She always seemed like just a happy, go-lucky kid," Amoroso said. "She didn't seem like she had any hangups or anything like that."
He said he found out about Lindsey's death through social media.
"It's just really, really strange that she'd be found out in the middle of nowhere like that. And that, I hadn't heard anything about her being missing," Amorosa said.
A suspect wasn't immediately identified in the case. An autopsy will determine her cause of death.
A representative for the Roman family did not provide comment on Lindsey's death other than requesting privacy at this time.
