  • Got laid off, going camping

So today the company I worked for got sold to another company - I was one of about 20 or so who was shown the door (severance and all that so I'm not crying)

Not sure how many people on here camp, but I've been getting the itch again (haven't been since 2002) and then I made the mistake of watching ever Shug Emery video on Youtube.

Anyway I'm in Northern California, was just curious if anyone else is in Cali and where you go camping at?

I'm going to be checking out this place as soon as the weather clears up

Just north of the Russian River and about a 45-minute drive from Santa Rosa, Austin Creek State Recreation area is a popular spot for hikers and equestrians, with some 20 miles of forested trails. The main campground,
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Camping is God's way of reminding you why you bought a house....
Bon Jovi is like a frozen Coca Cola.. It's cool, it's crunchy, but when all is said and done it is still pop....

I used to do more camping in the winter when I was in my 30's
Stay out for a week in sub 20 degrees. Yes I was a dumbass back then.
      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I used to do a lot of overnight bass boat and float fishing trips, so I used to camp a lot. Not that I roughed it. Big nice tent, queen size Coleman air mattress, bunch of Killians Red and steaks for breakfast and supper. Haven't been on a good fishing trip since 2011 when my best friend from high school wussed out on our annual spring, summer and fall fishing trips. I'm too big of a candy ass now to camp in the sub 40 temperatures now though. Winter's for hanging around the house playing xBox and going to gun shows!

I haven't gone camping in ages... I would grab a state map of National and State parks and a few BLM maps of the area you live nearby. Also, ask your local sheriff, they should be able to tell you a few good spots that aren't overrun by tourists or glampers.

Then read "Missing 411" by David Paulides, and I guarantee you'll enjoy your camping trip all the more.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

            I nearly broke her back

I'm a couple hours away from Yosemite and George J Hatfield is less then 4 miles from my house. I was just curious where others camp in CA. Asking the Sheriff though would be a good idea, I'm going to wager they are just saying to say "get in the care drive to Yosemite" lol. I've been commuting 6 hours a day for the last 2 years, so I'm in the mood to be in a tent for a couple nights

it won't have any affect on my camping, but that looks really interesting

I'm 24 years old and been camping in Sierra forest once or twice a years or the last past few years. Really nice and quite there.
Last summer I camped in summerdale campground. Just miles south of Yosemite.
I camped by myself for 5 days. Really came back home refreshed.

I hear the emerald triangle area has some pretty laid back camp sites

Sorry to hear about getting laid off
