Who runs the JCF FB page? Same mods as this forum? I too, didn't know there was a FB page for JCF. Will go check it out. Its a lot easier to access FB from a smartphone than to wait to go home and log onto your computer.

Me personally, I quit playing in a band 5 or 6 years ago and quite honestly haven't really picked up a guitar for more than 5 minutes at a time since then. Just kinda lost interest. Still have most of my guitars and my amp and cabs, but rarely touch them anymore. Because I am not really playing, I just come here to browse and see what's going on. Rarely, if ever post anymore.

I come back because - it's where my J/C addiction is understood AND I still enjoy the knowledge here and humor. I still have not cracked 1000 posts. I do not know how you guys do it. I worked in IT for years.. sat at a computer most of the day. Even then, I could not post all day long nor did I have something to contribute on a daily basis. BTW - no Facebook, no Linkd In, no cell phone here! I divorced technology when I quit IT. I still have a G-Major Everything else is tube.

I can totally feel that last two posts. I barely touch my guitars. Wipe them down a couple times a year but they never get used anymore. Completely lost interest, I should really let them go to where they'll be put to use. The JCF will always be a cool place to visit though. A lot of interesting characters!
Also worked IT for years and can't even stand to hear or look at the crap. I don't even mention to people that's what I used to do unless pressed.

I sold or gave away all 76 of my guitars. Got rid of all the associated gear prior to my move to the southwest. Totally lost interest and picked up a new hobby, shootin pistols! A friend gave me a Yamaha acoustic and I'll play the opening riff to Dread and The Fugitive Mind which takes about 30 seconds. Then I'm good for another six months or so!

If someone were actually in control of the website and improving it, things could change. Sure some forums are dead, but there are a lot of forums that are very active.

There are plugins that could make this site mobile phone friendly, that's probably the main reason this site doesn't see much traffic. The forum structure was haphazardly added as time progressed, it could use a structure that makes more sense... I told Jeremy when we moved from the last software. The graphics and layout could be updated... this is basically vanilla vbulletin. A lot of content is not google searchable can't be accessed without an account, limiting usefulness of the content here. There should also be a healthy Fender forum here too since Fender purchased the brand, but there isn't. A lot of little things could be done to draw more users and traffic... iTrader plugin, Tapatalk plugin, etc...

But that all takes staff that wants to put effort into making a place better.

I think it's all about the age of the players. Brands that appeal to younger players will do better with a Facebook page. Older guys(like a lot of us) still want to use web based Forums. A perfect example of that is the MyLesPaul.com Forum. Mostly older guys, that Forum keeps really busy.

Facebook can blow itself. My wife spends enough time on it for both of us and then some. I don't get the appeal. Then again, I'm a fairly private person, and don't feel compelled to share everything with everyone. I'm only on FB for band-related communications and to stay in touch with a handful of old friends and relatives who I wouldn't otherwise see. Seems like a wretched way to carry on a running conversation, though.

Then again, I've been mostly absent from this and other forums over the past couple years. I see that I'm not the only gun enthusiast on here, because I was starting to feel bad about neglecting my guitar forums in favor of gun forums.
