Listened to some samples. It's like the Worst of Journey.
I can deal with the cheesy art and storyline...just give me some crazy ass prog metal. The last album was a huge disappointment too. Can't stand it when they get into their slow jam mode.

I actually liked that self-titled one better than the first one they put out with Mangini.
I was looking forward to this new one, as I had heard it was supposed to be a little heavier, but I guess not.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
I just hate seeing them live. They're just mannequins standing there with the exception of the occasional cringe-worthy key-tar
In fairness Rudess is pretty active overall. Your average band the audience isn't listening that hard. I.e. ACDC could miss a whole section and the audience would be too happy/inebriated to notice as long as they still can sing back in black. Dream Theater has this obligation to be crazy tight and is way more along the lines of a classical audience than a typical rock audience. Tight precise and complicated. I prefer my live music to be more energetic in general but I completely understand why DT is not all over the place.
