Ugh. That's what I feared.
Listened to some samples. It's like the Worst of Journey.
I can deal with the cheesy art and storyline...just give me some crazy ass prog metal. The last album was a huge disappointment too. Can't stand it when they get into their slow jam mode.

In fairness Rudess is pretty active overall. Your average band the audience isn't listening that hard. I.e. ACDC could miss a whole section and the audience would be too happy/inebriated to notice as long as they still can sing back in black. Dream Theater has this obligation to be crazy tight and is way more along the lines of a classical audience than a typical rock audience. Tight precise and complicated. I prefer my live music to be more energetic in general but I completely understand why DT is not all over the place.I keep the bible in a pool of blood
