Anybody know what this is exactly?

I mean, I'd say it was a cockroach, but none I've ever seen (though I'm certainly no expert, and I don't make it a habit to study them).
It's a gruesome thing to be sure - maybe Dross recognizes it? [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Yep its one of the giant diving water beetles. It can give a really nasty bite too if you handle it.

Thanks guys - it was flying around at work last night and someone caught it. I brought it home in a plastic Folgers brand coffee canister and then dumped it into a clear container so I could photograph it. Damn thing makes a helluva lotta noise in a plastic can, too [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Ok, mystery solved - time to squish it [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]
