Personally I'd like to see someone elected with qualifications other than being the son of a former president (and don't tell me about being governer of Texas -- Texas Governers have little power, and generally don't do sh*t!)

Or how about someone who won't blatantly lie to the public in order to justify a costly war with no respectable exit strategy, serving only to fuel more terrorism?

How about someone who might at least finish the job in Afghanistan before flipping a coin to decide who to invade next?

Or someone with an economic policy that involves more than pointless tax benefits for the uber-rich and increasing deficits? "tax and spend" sure beats the "borrow and spend" strategy going on now. Fiscally conservative, my ass!

However, exactly what has improved regarding terrorism since we went after Bin Laden and later invaded Iraq?

As near as I can tell not a single fucking thing has improved. People still get through airport security with scary shit. Terrorist attacks are still happening. We never have captured Bin Laden. We do have a new Patriot act that allows the government to incarcerate you indefinitely without even charging you with a crime.

In the state of the union address, some Bush's key topics were about banning gay marriage, teaching abstenance to our youth in schools, providing new ways for big corporations to avoid providing decent benefits, he declared a "do-over" for the reason we attacked Iraq, and he wants to be more agressive on drugs (at least he has experience with drugs). How can a president in the 21st century possibly give a flying fuck about who marries who? And abstenance? WTF? I've got a better idea, how about paying teachers to provide an education and let me decide when my kids should have sex. This guy has this medieval bible-thumping sense of morality that he wants to impose on me.

Personally, I'd just like to see him solve a problem with out someone being killed or having civil liberties taken away.

If being a leader just means fucking things up and getting more people to hate you then I'm the man for the job. I guarantee you I could get more people hating us/me/you more efficiently than he has - I'd first dispense with the phony pretenses. And fucking things up is a piece of cake. I'd start by taxing poor people even more and tax rich people less. Oh wait, he already did that.

The whole premise that the USA was founded on is that if the people don't like the government then they can change it. This November will be the first time I will ever vote in my life. Hey Bert - the "blatant lies" appear to be buried in Syria. If only we hadn't wasted months with the UN (whose officials along with those in the stonewalling French, German, & Russian governments were on Saddam's payroll via the UN's "oil for food" program) we'd have got the stockpile before it left the country. When al Qaeda drives trucks filled with 80 tons of chemical weapons from Syria into Jordan and many of those weapons are known to be beyond Syria's ability to manufacture, there shouldn't be too many questions as to where they originated.
