Anyone here play? I had my first experience this weekend. I took my son, he's 11, and met up with a bunch of guys from work. We had a blast!

Can wait to play again.

yeah..I was hardcore in paintball about 2 years ago. I just sold my gun at x-mas time. now I"m kind of craving that adrenalin rush I got...

but spending 100 dollars every weekend isn't somethign I can do these days.

I definately plan on gettign back into the sport in teh near future though.

Re: paintball

I used to play years ago. I had my own gun and fitigues for indoor (sniper black) and outdoor (green camo) play.

There was a real cool place here in downtown Chicago. It was a floor of a high-rise building that was gutted, and the only lights were blacklights. They made the players wear neon-colored vests. Obviously a different color for each team. If/when someone shot one of the referees, they would send a guy out wearing all black and no vest... They called him "The Predator". When I first got there, I had on my sniper gear and just about everyone there asked me if I was The Predator.

After a while I just stopped playing. I really didn't have too many people that I knew who were into it. So I sold my gun and got rid of my other gear and moved on.

Then a few months ago, my older brother called me and told me that he had been playing and he took my nephew with him. He had a lot of stories to tell. I told him that if/when I come down there (to North Carolina), he and I would have to play somewhere.

I played a couple times a really long time ago, like maybe the mid 80s. It sure was a rush! I remember a lot of details very clearly. One of the other teams consisted of mostly Vietnamese-American dudes...at one point my team had a bunch of them surrounded in a "jungle area"...very clearly came a yelled taunt from inside the trees....in a very exaggerated Vietnamese accent: "Hey GI! You die!"

Another time I saw some movement in some bushes and shot the guy clean in the arm. Only problem: he was on my team!

Re: paintball

At one point I was playing in national tournaments, with tricked-out race guns, colorful jerseys, inflatable bunkers and all that shiet. Too expensive hobby though, especially at that level.

Best memory: Got too many to single out one in particular, but I really enjoyed playing up front. There's nothing like crawling towards an unsuspecting opponent, while your team lays down cover fire that swoshes past a few inches over your head. Or rushing their front line, hearing the panicked cries, guns going off and seeing strings of paint flying towards you.

Yea, I can see how the $$ adds up. We all rented from a guy who does this. It was only $25.00 per person. That got you a gun, mask, co2 and a big bag o' paintballs.

Re: paintball

I played a few years ago with a bunch of guys from my police dept. I started buying gear, a nice, high-end gun, paintballs, and it all started to add up. We didn't play enough to justify the expenditure. Of course, I say this tongue in cheek considering I have probably 35 or 40 guitars and they sure don't all get played on a regular basis.
I'd like to get back into paintball on a semi-regualr basis. Todd, we oughtta try and get a Chicagoland/St Louis team together...play around the midwest.
