  • Favorite Guitar Solos

I know there are some amazing and technical solos out there, but which solos just give you "goosebumps" when you hear them? Solos that "Fit" the particular song perfectly and hearing them makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck...I have 5 to start.

    1. Wasted Years - Maiden
    2. Bark at the Moon - Ozzy - Jake E. Lee
    3. Fade to Black - Metallica
    4. Over the Mountain - Ozzy - Randy R.
    5. Electric Eye - Priest

    Food for thought eh?

the mountain song - dave navarro
larger than life - rick derringer (standing in for a drunken ace frehley)
              tonight - randy
she wants money - robbin crosby
just about all of rock and roll rebel is a solo, and it's all hotter than a urinary tract infection - jake
bark at the moon - jake
              calling dr love - ace
              firehouse - ace
              shock me - ace

partial notes and noises that i think rule:

the last note of the miracle man solo - zakk

the slippery descending run that leads into victim of changes - (no idea if it was glenn or kk)

the sustained and shaken note in slip of the lip solo - warren

the delay loop that makes up "how soon is now" by the smiths.

the little trem picking/wah thing that dave does in the mountain song solo that sounds like a toucan in the jungle

steve vai's "tobacco" at the very end of tobacco road - dlr

the opening part of welcome to the jungle - slash

the little part that jeff beck plays in people get ready as the key changes up to Eb - classic.

              anything that lindsey buckingham plays.

Dream Theater, Morbid Angel, Symphony X, and Meshuggah have played my favorite guitar solos. I'm too lazy to list the any certain songs by said artists.

                          Re: Favorite Guitar Solos

I've been going through my library of songs here on my computer. So far I picked a handful from Criss Oliva, Paul Gilbert, and George Lynch... I haven't even gotten to Blues Saraceno, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Marc Bonilla.. etc...

It's a good question, but it's gonna take a lot of research to answer.

How about Gerrardo ? Pat Benatar's husband and lead guitarist. His work always fit perfectly and is flawless.
