Re: Favorite Guitar Solos

Yea theres all those kickass guitar solos that sound amazing, but probably my favorite would have to be the one in Peruvian skies by dream theater. It sounds so powerful, and if you havent heard it, check it out. Aside from that, id have to say Mask of sanity by children of bodom and San Sebastian by Sonata Arctica

Re: Favorite Guitar Solos

Any Solo done by Uli Roth that guy is THE shredder... , Friedman , Becker , Andy Laroque , Tony Macalpine , Greg Howe and Paul Gilbert , Olaf Lenk , Magnus Carsson , Andre Corbin , Mike Romeo and Nigel Tufnel..

But Here is some of my all time faves

EVH - Eruption ..but every solo is pure fire until Sammy joined the band..he changed my life

YJM - Black Star...duh!
Steve Vai - Ladies night in buffalo..he did a few more good ones..
John Sykes - Cold Sweat...so did he
Frank Marino ...mahgony Rush live in '78 ...who do you love right into electric reflections of war
Criss Oliva ...everything off HOTMK , streets , EOT and Gutter Ballet....
RR - Mr Crowley , Over the mountain , Mother Earth..Good bye to Romance ...shit he was great!
George Lynch - early dokken stuff..
Warren DiMartini ...I can't name a specific solo ...'out of the cellar' shit mostly.
Jeff Loomis .. The river dragon and the sacrement...this dude is a god for this shit alone
Nuno Bentencourt ..that dude played some pretty sick shit ...especialy on Pornograffitti
Steve Stevens ...this sounds kinda gay but when he was with Vince Neil ...he played and sounded amazing ...I thought he has the best tone second to old Ed and Chris Oliva.!!
Gary Moore ..The end of the world...man he smoked back then
Akira Takasaki - You shook me.
Neil Schon in Journey ...I don't even like or liked Journey but his solos are so catchy and memorable ..they haunt you for the rest of your life .

early Sabbath is a huge part of my very existence ..Tony Iommi is da man.

I'm way too high and there is soooooooooooo many to list..

I remembered when I heard Night Ranger for the first time (don't tell me you love me ) and heard those solos and went . The music is gay 80s rock ...very poppy but those solos were great ...

A lot of awesome playing back in '89..it was the year of the shred at it's peak...Vitto Bratta /Steve Lynch/Harry Cody/Dave Sharmen/Vinnie Vincent...everyone was trying to out do each other ...it went nuts.

Once you have mastered every shred mode in the book. You had to flaunt it by playing upsided down , side ways , switching hands , both hands , with your teeth , behind your back , smacking it with your pud..

>jimi - Red House , Bleeding Heart
>led zep - Stairway to heaven , we're gonna groove , I can't quit you baby (actually almost everything of jimmy page's work , he combines blues-feel with technique)
>kirk - one , master of puppets
kirk/james - nothing else matters (think James plays this live)
>Roy Buchanan - Green Onions
>Eric Clapton - The crossroads (live) , Wonderful tonight
>Steve Vai - For the love of god
> SRV-mary had a little lamb and some others

STRYPER is the word for the day.
Stryper solos do it for me. Check out "In God we trust" solo, on album of same name. Is aw them live in concert here in Nashville a few months ago, and they just kicked butt. After Michael Sweet did his solo in the middle of my favorite Stryper song, he threw his yellow Stryper logo pick out into the crowd--and hit me in the chest. I now have it in a frame. Love it.
Stryper is back!

Sails of Charon-Scorps/Roth-breathtaking

Backstage Queen-Scorps/Roth-ditto

Feel your love tonight-VH.nice loose feel & pace.

Hocus Pocus-Focus/Akkermann

Far Beyond the Sun-Malmsteen classic Yngwie, master-of-bation.

Shotgun Messiah-Harry Cody-just about any solo from 2nd coming..but he smokes on Heartbreak Blvd, especially cool was the intro lead in to the solo where he does the harmonic whammy thing sounding like a take off.

Broken Promises-Schenker, Assault Attack..what a well executed solo..nice timing.

Heat in the Street-Travers/Thrall. The volume swells lead in was sweet. Thrall smokes in this tune.

Cemetary Gates-Pantera/Dime- A classic & showcase for Dime's ability.

A Lil' Ain't Enough-DLR/Becker-classic Becker

Countless Journey/Schon solos, Lynch w/ Dokken,
almost any Doobies or Steely Dan as well...great stuff.

This could go on for days.
