Re: Andy Kaufman

If this is true, it is the end of comedy. A 20 year punchline. How the hell could you possibly top it? It would be sweet if this was real.

It's quite possible that it's Bob Zmuda as Tony Clifton in those pics. Although, the guy in the middle picture bears a resemblance to Bob.

Re: Andy Kaufman

Ok, I was like 7 when he died...but my mother remembers him and thinks he was hysterical. I have seen the documentaries and stuff about him, and just based on that, it seems like something he would do. However, I doubt that someone who was such a performer could stay out the spotlight for that many years. I'll believe it when I see him on TV or something. That would be probably the all-time best practical joke though...

Well, this has been the speculation since he died, that he was doing it all as a joke.

Re: Andy Kaufman

Google news has a few articles on the buidup to the House of Blues show:

http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ed...q=andy+kaufman

But check out that first item:

Andy Kaufman Returns After 20 Years
Emediawire (press release) - 23 hours ago
Andy Kaufman faked his own death 20 years ago and has returned, alive and well. DNA tests prove that this is indeed the real Kaufman and not another hoax. ...

When you click on it, the page is empty but says cryptically
"We're sorry. This release has been placed on 'Dispute Hold'."

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Probably not true, but I wonder if he was cremated or buried? If the latter, determining his "status" would be fairly easy.

I have doubts about that...if true its an amazing story. If I were related to him I'd beat his ass for doing that. Since he's not dead I guess it wouldn't be in poor taste to say this, I never really thought he was that funny anyways, I didn't care for him on taxi either (the whole show actually) his career died about 25 years ago

Total f'n , IMHO. Possibly even done pursuant to a promise to Andy 20 yrs. ago. That guy would've had the best and most twisted sense of humor even on his freakin' deathbed.

I never liked Andy, but he was what he was.

That site is... well, stupid. And I think poorly written. Andy was not stupid.

Good hoax, though.
