need ideas for practice space for my band

my house wont work, my mom cant handle loud drums
mt singers house wont work, he lives with his 90 year old granma

we are still looking for a drummer and bass player though, i am hoping one of their houses will work out

my singer suggested i call some storage rental places........common sense tells me they wouldnt be too keen on having a loud metal band playing in one of their storage rooms

would like a place where we could leave all our stuff

any ideas?

i'm in south/central jersey BTW

Re: need practice space

Look under "Rehearsal studios" in the phone book?

Look in an industrial area for something like a 500-1,000 sq. ft. warehouse. Noise is less of an issue, and most of the other businesses will be closed at night when you rehearse anyway. You might even be able to get away with using office space for the same thing, as long as the other businesses are not open when you're cranking. I'd say the industrial thing is probably your best bet.

Check with your local storage places. Some Public Storage and Uhaul facilities don't care what you do in them as long as it's not illegal. The rent is super fucking cheap, like $100 a month for a huge room. You're not going to get anything special out of an actual rehearsal studio if the ones up there are anything like the ones here.

Yeah, check out the local Public Storage places. My band has been playing in a storage unit for about 3 years, and there's actually about 9-10 other bands playing in various units. You'll have to tap into the light switches to run wiring, but that's not a big deal. We're running 2 guitar amps, a bass amp, PA, various blacklights and even a little dorm fridge (gots to keep the beer cold!) and we have no issues with the electricity. It's cold as hell in the winter ( we have to use a kerosene heater) and hot as hell in the summer (we have lots of box fans and cold beer) but NOBODY complains about the noise.
