Re: Presenting.... Bed Of Nails

I kind of like the low production values, it's well mixed, just has a high noise floor. It sort of helps capture the old-school thrash feeling, but there are definitely some post-Kreator influences there. Is that the Uberschall your playing?

      Re: Presenting.... Bed Of Nails

All the original scratch tracks that I kept to lay the drums down is the Uberschall (they were good enough) ...the leads and fills and some secondary rythms were done with my Marshall which was recorded at a way to low of a level ...so we had to boost that channel when we mixed it to keep up with the other levels and that's most of the noise you hear ...that channel is really in the red and it became very distorted and shrill...

but it was too late , we had to give the borrowed mics back ...and that was that.

This tape was to give this local metal DJ that was hounding me to give him a clue what we sound like ..he wanted a boombox tape or anything ...so we threw this together....I guess he liked it , he played it on his show and I missed it.

Man first thing tomorrow I'm going to bust out some Kreator ...especially Pleasure To Kill ...and give that a good listen.

I just bought their new live disc ...I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet ...but what I did here sounds great!

The other two BON songs have a total different flavor as well ..

THAT'S GREAT BILL!!! For a 4-track recording it's pretty clearly mixed.

You can tell your singer's quality by the fact he sticks out on a basement tape. Kinda reminds me of Jeff Scott Soto. The intro solo in Scapegoat sounds real fuckin' cool! His death vox sound great too, not that I'm an expert there, but he has power and projection you don't always hear in the genre - and on a 4-track cassette!

          Kick fuckin' ASS, brother!

            Alright! Let's hear some more!

I knew you were beating up the sound quality issue. Both tracks rocked. Especially Scapegoat. Ty has some pipes!

So when can we pre-order the album?

Put me down for a copy - I'd get a kick out of sitting down and learning your stuff! That's how I rate the stuff I like - when I NEED to learn it when I hear it! So tuning info and such will be appreciated!

                Well done, man!

                      Re: Presenting.... Bed Of Nails

I hear ya, Bill.... haven't even heard Father Felon yet either... but as Ian Gillan said, "It's not the kill, it's the thrill... of the chase!"

Usually stuff you want to learn IS challenging, that's the fun of it.

                      And if I can't get it, I have a built-in excuse, so it's win-win for me!

It's funny that you mentioned Ian Gillan ...I thought Ty had an Ian Gillan vibe during his high pitch stuff in scapegaot ....but he like Jeff Scott Sotto...

his very favorite that he can nail like a son of a B is Cris Cornell ...I should learn Rusty Cage or Jesus Christ Pose off Badmotorfinger just for him..

I reallly like the second number, the first track isn't my cup of tea vocally but everything else was cool.

Bill you badass mofo!! That kicks serious ass dude. I like High Speed the best, but they are both really good. Sound quality is fine, esp. for a four track. It's easily good enough to show the band off.I'd say get into a studio, but you could buy a kickass digital 16 track workstation and rent some mikes for the cost of studio time.

                                Singer is fucking great.

There's a lot of really cool riffs and your playing is tight. I like the lead work at the beginning of 2nd track, I wish you coulda had more room to solo but next time maybe. Great work.
