Here's a pic of Ed shortly after he found out he had cancer (about three years ago). He was at a golf tournament and still smoking like a chimney!

Hey, wouldn't it be cool if Michael and Dave formed a band and made some flunkies dress up as Eddie and Alex and called it Van Halen?

And THEN, they could make a symphony album....with the fake Alex playing on a couple of trash cans-AHH...with a disco beat-AHH, in 4/4 time, of course-AHH...and cover a Bob Seger tune-AHH...

Sorry, I got my bands mixed up. Or did I?

What?

Any Van Halen is good Van Halen
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I agree about Dave. I really loved the two new songs w/Roth on Best of Vol. 1, but his warblings were the worst part about them. He never had much of a voice, but what little he had is now long gone. What I liked most about "Me Wise Magic" and "Can't Get This Stuff No More" was the guitar riffs on both and the solo on Magic--I really thought that Eddie was on the verge of going to a new level--and then VHIII came out...

This new song seems of a piece with VHIII, actually--sort of aimless and lacking in the hooks department. Well, ok, it's better than the VHIII stuff.

The more I listen to this tune, the more I like it. However, I am one of those guys that will never speak ill of EVH or any of his tunes (I've been granted a pardon for "How Many Say I" and the needless crap that it is) - he can do no wrong in my opinion.
At least he's still trying to rock - imagine if you were a Cream era, Clapton fanatic and had to endure his albums since their breakup...
Eddie's trying anyway...like this song or not, he has not pussed out.

when roth and eddie write tunes together,
magic happens. mountains explode, missiles are launched, villages are overrun, women feel the need to remove clothing, booze flows like the pacific ocean, heart rate surges, feet tap, hands hit things in time, smiles everywhere, viagra is replaced, courage is instilled, speeding tickets
increase ten fold, and blow jobs are easier to obtain. no dave, no interest. but that's just me, i'm not telling anybody who is better,(cuz we already know)what to listen to, why, etc.
a long time ago a band called van halen walked the earth. it was the tyrannasaurus rex of the music world for a spell, but like the other dinosaurs, it remains extinct to the non delight of myself and many others.
i just want one more album with dave and i will never complain again. it would prove just how much the original lineup wailed the living piss out of the ones that followed. it's true.

It's not that people are idiots, it's that they think if Dave's back in VH, it'll be 1984 again and they'd be teenagers, not gonna happen people. I hate all these vh fans that say everything from the past 20 years of VH with out dave suck. Get a fucking life people. I am one of the people who thin Eddie can do no wrong too. I've listened to VH since I was 3 so these new songs are like gold to me.

I written several E-mail on the Van Halen board constantly dropping Jorn Lande's name ...

I think Jorn would be the best pick for Van Halen ...he would breathe fire into that half dead band..

I'm sure Jorn can cover Sam and Dave and then some!!!!

They don't make too many singers better than Jorn!!!

I agree about Jorn Lande--kickass singer!
The Masterplan album is one of the best I've heard in years.

Can't really imagine his voice in VH, though. He was in The Snakes doing the old Whitesnake tunes with Micky Moody and Bernie Marsden, though, so maybe he wouldn't object to covering someone else's tunes.
