Wow!.....and i expected something original. Way over-produced, and the same licks we've heard since the late 80's. Eddie just needs to retire. He was a damn good guitar player in his day but IMHO he's ran out of ideas, and he's no longer an innovator. It's a damn shame. Hey, on the upside, he'll probably still be able to rip those same licks when he's 80 years old!!! Oh Yeah!!!! Long live Ed!
My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.
Shit DM I couldn't download the song ...shit dial up slowww ass bullcrap!
Well I'm a cheap ass..
Ed was the reason I started playing ...big Time VH tribute band and everything! I saw his playing taking a dump ...well he palteued and then never advanced...and guys like Steve and Satch and a whole bunch of guys did . But they probably wouldn't be around as well if it weren't for ED.
Hey DM I finaly posted a couple o' tunes of my "basement tape" ..Bed Of Nails....check it out.
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.
Based on what I hear, here.... I wouldn't just run right out and buy this one. From what I've read around the net, I was expecting something like the first three albums.. and this ain't it. At least not to my ear. Maybe I'm just wanting to hear Dave in there somewhere... Not to take away from Sammy.. but that is the VH I fell in love with.
Not bad, but I expected more from what many consider the "second coming"..
You like it Drs Racing???!! I couldn't get to listen to it . Does it sound like something off the FUCK or Balance albulms ....hopefully not VHIII ....musically speaking , that album is just sad!
I'm sure I'll hear it soon , when is the album is supposed to be realesed ..?
I'll buy it the day it comes out just the way I did when all of their albums came out ...since the first one ...when you were an embryo..or not even..
or just an itch in your daddy's pants..

[EDIT] I'm kind of with Stephan in the aspect it "sounds like" we should be hearing Dave in there somewhere, it just sounds like his "tone" (for lack of a better term) should be along side that tune. But overall, I can dig it, not much trickery in there, but sounds like a decent party tune. I like it, remember when "why can't this be love" came out? Kind of the same thing with me here.
As for being inovative, IMO, Ed's done it all already, I can't imagine what something new would be, but this certainly wasn't it.
I'm also partial as I've always been a huge VH fan, Sam and Dave both. I'm 38 and grew up with this shit and him and Randy are the only reasons I ever picked up an axe...
pretty nice to hear a song with guitar as a focal point I think it rocks, classic Van Hagar. I would rather hear Dave but that will never happen I hope it gets radio airplay and becomes successful so hopefully we'll see rock guitar become the norm again...
I'm with you Pat, it was Eddie and Randy that made me want to play and practice.
Just heard it on the radio. Sure, its not old style and although I was expecting more, it's really NOT a bad song folks. I thought it was ok for "Van Hagar". After a few more times of hearing it, I'm sure it'll grow on you. Give it a second listen. Sounds better cranked loud than low volume. I do wish it was more raw and old VH sounding but that'll never happen again.
I heard part of it on Howard Stern this morning. I thought it was pretty cool. I've gotta hear the rest of it and listen to it a couple more times, though.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
