I'm starting to get into hentai anime and manga, for obvious reasons.

Re: Questions, Anime and some other crap.

Like someone else said (Sunbane, I think), I love the plot and character development in Anime. I'm a real sucker for stories that actually unfold, develop, and have some sort of purpose.

I usually just watch anime with subtitles rather than dubbing, since most of the dubbing is horrible. However, a lot of dubbing is done better than it's given credit for. First off, distributers are usually in a hurry to get this stuff to the states. Secondly, it's hard to find voice actors who actually fit the parts. Thirdly, not only does the dialogue need to be properly translated, it needs to sound good. They have to try to choose words and phrases that we're use to hearing in the proper situations. And, the voice actors can't actually speak when the characters mouth isn't moving. So, bottom line, dubbing anime into english isn't easy at all.

Anime? Home sweet home

I got bitten mid-80's seeing Robotech
Unfortunatly in anime-starved Holland getting anything
(for a reasonable price) was not worth the effort
back in 1995 when I got internet the first search I
did was "Manga" (the only term then known to me)
Got an anime tattoo in 1997 and another in 1998 (my Avatar)
and the past 3 years been actively collecting Macross products (where Robotech was dubbed and editted from
Yeah, back in time)

Thanks to p2p I now have quite a fansub library
and a
modest legitimate library

Some of my fav's:
Macross
Nadesico
Project A-ko (A must-have for anime fans)
Mahoromatic (this is one I regretted having it end,
a very good anime, and just 26 Eps)
Scrapped Princess

I like anime for it's broad use, from kids to adult themes
comedy, drama, action, sports,...

"Fire and Ice" is to me the only decent animation
coming out
of "the west"
and even back then it was subpar to most japanese counterparts
"There's nothing taking away from the pure masculinity I possess"

-"You like Anime"

"....crap!"

another fyi:

I went to Otakon 2003 (anime convention) in Baltimore last year, and my friend got a copy of the winners of the AMV (anime music video) contest, which i converted to DVD... if you guys wanna see some good ones without the hassle of looking on P2P networks, or using animemusicvideos.org, let me know.. i have a DVD burner, and some spare time before i find a job.

and yes.. the Engel AMV one is GREAT. If you want to hear some Nightwish, look for "Lollipops, Sunshine, and rrrRRRrrr" by Doki Doki Productions.. one of the funniest AMVs ive seen. I can upload these somewhere as well.. but i only have a crappy comcast 30k up...so they may take awhile..

Re: Questions, Anime and some other crap.

I am a fairly enthusiastic anime fan. I find the stories and characters so much more interesting than those found in American TV and movies... everything feels much more fresh to me than boring-ass American pop culture product.

My favs include Ghost in the Shell, Jin-Roh, Trigun, and Macross. Berserk was great until the ending, but Mordor told me they are working on season two.

And for all the Macross fans... check out Macross Zero if you have a chance. It takes place one year before the events in Macross. I saw the first two episodes... the animation is superb! I can't really comment on the story yet.

Re: Questions, Anime and some other crap.

I don;t go buying 50$ dragon ball shirts. I do have 2 anime shirts, but I've had them since highschool, and I bought them T shirts because they looked cool (Black Ts with some cool jap shit going on).

I don't watch hentai. I have no interest in cartoon porn, I'll watch the real thing.

I do have some Japanese shirts, but that's because I like the Japanese culture, I don't mean like traditional shirts, I have things that just have goofy Japanese sayings on them.

To me, if the Anime is done correctly, you should not see it as a cartoon, you should see it as entertainment. I don't think of music as music per se, I think of music as emotion, I mean granted there is alot of crap music, but I see things for the emotion they portray, art, music, anything.

Do you recall seeing a dealer there called Wizzywig? That's the store I work for. We rock, but our main boss/owner is a fucking b!tch! We hate her. Anyways, I might be going with them to Otakon this year, but I don't know for sure yet.

If you're going again this year, don't be afraid to stop and say hey to me. If my fucking boss isn't nearby, I might be able to give you a deal on something. I'm the dude with the long, bushy hair and goatee.

The recaps of the previous eps, and the longer fights do not bother me, I mean the story hooks me well enough. Dragon Ball is pretty stupid if you ask me though...I can't stand that series! I watched it when I was in highschool, clear up to the point,

The world is going to end in 5 minutes...10 episodes later!

I can't stand Dragon ball

Anyway yeah, there's alot of shit anime, and alot of expensive anime, but there's also all in the same, alot of good anime.
I'd type more if I didn't have to make a massive BM right now.
