They just did the for-hire bass player thing. Hell, Death was really just Chuck Schuldiner. The others where just hired to play the additional parts in the studio and live.

we could now be subject to all kinds of double live albums, early years basement tapes, and
shitball solo ventures with music so bad that it would make will rogers punch a nun. then again,
maybe the good juicy stuff is now in the works.
good juicy stuff meaning scenarios and headlines like the following-

I played in a Classic rock lounge band with no bassist. Everything was sampled and on disc. The drummer cued up the bass lines and had a click track intro for each song. Pretty weird since you could only hear the bass thru the fronts when they were loud eoungh. If you missed your queue, well, you either played the song off the mark or stopped and started again. It was a little weird.

Anyways..I think Scott had a waaaay better voice than Eddie Vetter, more unique style too.

I just saw an MTV news story on it. It's not so much that they broke up, because they brough back their bass player and hired a new singer; it's just that Stapp left and they dropped the name Creed for a new one. It's basicaly another "Audioslave" case.
