Give 'em credit for one thing; for a couple of years they were about the only rock band getting airplay in a sea of hip hop and r&b.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thank you Lerx. Without Nickleback and Creed on the otherwise horrible musical landscape, you would NOT HEAR a distorted guitar on the radio. Think about it.

I guess I'm the only one here in this sea of rivetheads who actually likes these two bands and has respect for their songwriting and business savvy. I guess I'm the only one here who has been depressed enough to have the Creed song "Six Feet" bring me to tears cause it hit so close to home. I guess I'm the only one here who dosen't judge a guitar player by how fast they can move their fingers...

Ahh, whatever.

I just really don't like Creed. They one song that I liked, I think it was called "IF" I have it on a soundtrack somewhere. The band just seemed to full of itself for me. (please see tag line below).

I heard Nickelback on the radio the other night at work. Had no clue as to who it was until they announced it but it was a rockin tune. They sound like a good band to me.

Again, samey as they are, those groups and Creed at least brought more rock onto the airwaves than had been there for years before them. It's not ALL about solos, love them though I do. Chuck's right, they had some good songs. If you're too cool to appreciate a guy writing a song about his unborn son, then
you're cooler than I want to be. Despite
the hookers and blow that followed, the guy was sincere in writing about his son.

Re: holy crap...there may actually be a god!

I've heard three songs by Knickelback, all sounded different. One was kinda a ballad, another a slam rocker which remided me in the vein of Zep and another newer one.

Anyways, I know what you mean by formula rock. People have said the same of Yngwie, plug in neo classical formula, results = same ole same ole.
Or Journey..I liken that with a style. If you hear REO come on the radio, you know within the first portion of the song, it's REO.
if you hate them, you hate them..if they write songs for airplay and they succeed, eh, more power to them. They're entitled, it's a business. Rather have them on the airwaves than Britney but that is just me.

I liked/like Creed.. i was a bit annoyed with Stapp and his preacher antics, but i really liked Mark Tremonti.. He's written some very catchy riffs in the Creed days.. i'll admit.. Higher, and One Last Breath (thats the one you mean, chuck) were pretty damn catchy riffs.

I dont like Nickelback too much, but I really like Audioslave, and Rage Against the Machine. Then again, Im a youngin' (22), and grew up in a different time than some of you guys.

I'm 20, and I don't like any of these bands. Go figure. But, I do have one Rage Against the Machine cd that I think is pretty cool.

well.. my musical upbringing was unusual... being asian, i grew up listening to weird crap my parents would listen to.. my first CD i ever got was Offspring's "Smash", and then eventually i was introduced to old metallica, and it kinda sprung from there.. So i guess im a little odd in my music tastes... Hell, i enjoy a little Yanni once in a while too!

For those of you who want to buy that "Even Jesus Hates Creed" t-shirt, I ran a quick search on Google and was unable to find it. I used to post on The Offspring's forum and first saw guitarist/vocalist Dexter Holland wearing that shirt. There are other "Even Jesus Hates Creed" shirts on Ebay, such as this:

Heh, illumina was another The Offspring-first guy... cool.
