Agreed Todd, that's what you and I have a lot in common, neither of our teams have really been in contention for some time, and when we're playing a Detroit, etc on the Deuce, it's not even fun when the announcers are as bad as they are...

Yeh, I know POP's all too well, same about Twister, next time yer down here, you'll have to go out to his pub, appropriately called "Twister's" in Imperial Mo. He's a real personable guy with a big heart, both on and off the ice.

I don't know what game you watched Pat. St. louis was hit with a high stick the replay clearly shows that. Fraizer just blew the call (again) should of been a 4 minute major. what is so hard about keeping your stick down? I hope there is a season next year. i am pretty dedicated also. scott

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Back in the day when they had Pat Foley with Dale Talon announcing games. During a game, Dale said of Alex Zhamnov, "If he's not going to score, the least he could do is play defence." I must have laughed for a good 10 minutes at that.

Man, we used to have one of the highest payrolls ever, with a bunch of retired players or close to anyway, it was pathetic.

I still say the hit was clean.

I hear ya Todd, at least we have spent some money over recent years, but to no avail...

Ya know, they don't even show the Anthems anymore, it's all about the almighty buck, a disgrace to the game and it's roots.

I'd guess I be a Wing hater too if I wasn't from Detroit The Blues even had a better team and they couldn't overcome them in the playoffs lol:

When your on top for a while everyone hates you you become over exposed (NY Yankees) I remember the Dead Things era where they sucked for the longest time...fans showing up with bags on their heads etc. St Louis used to kick the Wings ass all the time. If the Wings don't change their way of thinking, these days will be back faster than you know it - thats for sure.

Re: o.k., the GAME 7 winner is-

No reason to insult people that dont see it you way. I've been playing since I was about four years old, I'm 36 now. Crush him, kill him, take his head off: figure of speech. It was a stupid play. It doesnt matter if it was a clean hit, this is my point. If you would take a deep breath and calm down you might accually see what I mean.

Let me break it down for you.

You have a chance to crush a guy half your size, directly in front of the ref, who if it "looks" bad enough may call a penalty. This happens to be the same ref banned from game 6 in Calgary for calls the fans did not agree with. With one minute left in the game, and down by a goal what do you do?

I'm a Wings fan. Have been for a long time. I dont like the way they try to buy the cup as much as anyone else. I went through nine years as a wings fan without them seeing the playoffs, then they drafted Steve. I'm not a bandwagon fan. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the old guys leave and the draft picks emerge finally, its been along time coming.

Are you going to tell me the game has not gotten cheaper? Remember when a highstick that drew blood got ya a major? How many did ya see in a game. Maybe one every 5 games? Now with the lack of calls there is atleast two a game. All I'm saying is someone is going to get seriously hurt.

Try not to inslult me with "lack of knowledge". I went to twelve games last year alone. I live nowhere near an arena (closest is 200 miles). And that was a slow year.

Re: o.k., the GAME 7 winner is-

As I said, it wasn't anything personal and if you find it insulting because I believe it's lack of knowledge, then you're as soft as half of these players in the NHL, which is why they're getting cut up all the time, it's not because of high sticks, or slashes, it's because they're not used to getting rocked like they do. A shoulder pad can cut a guy just as easy as a stick, and you want to tell me a shoulder up high a bit isn't part of the game? Or is a cheep shot? Again, it's all about the money, they're trying to get rid of all the physical play of the game, or minimize it as much as possible, they can't let their $5 million dollar man get hit and possibly get hurt? That's garbage man!

The reason you're seeing 2 or more penalties a game now is because they call shit like that last night! I don't care what you say or the reasoning behind the hit, it was a clean hit and that's 75% or more of the game, at least it used to be, checking is almost all of the game, if a team comes out knocking guys on their ass and continues to throughout the game, 80% or more of the time, they'll win that game, and when you take that out, it's a totally different game.
Which in my opinion is changing the game from it's raw roots, it's hockey, it's not baseball.

And yes, the Wings did buy the cup, I posted accordingly at the time...

Listen, you are insulting me. And showing you own arrogant ignorance. The reason we see more high sticks and cheap shots is becuase of the instigator rule. Bring fighting back they way it used to be and good old Ville wont be running any one.

By the way I didnt want to get personal, but I gotta call b.s. here. When exactly, at your old age of 38, see Plager play? Oh, and which one? Barclay, Bobby, or Billy? Yeah right.

And if you think I insulted you, try this one...

The reason you probably think these things, is because your beloved Wings are full of $5 Million dollar men, and they play a finesse game, so of course you think their cheap shots, they're smashing Stevey Y in the boards, we can't have that...

Go back 10-15 yrs, if that long really, and think about some of the games that were played, the players, that was hockey, none of this panty waste shit. I think The Dream Team has altered you're roots of the game, especially growing up where I assume you did, "Hockey Town"

Pat

Again, nothing personal, take it as you will.
