I think Tekky's hit the nail on the head here. It's probably not that Fender is "for sale" because they're having troubles. More likely, it's comparable to "going public" with an IPO (initial public offering) of company stock.

i.e., The company is strong and healthy. The folks who currently privately own Fender are looking to sell their ownership values while things are strong. A common practice in the corporate marketplace. I'm not saying you'll necessarily see Fender publically traded on the stock exchange. Just that the process is similar.

Nonetheless, it would be yet another ownership change. This time for J/C's corporate "parent".

BTW, why does this stuff always seem to happen right before NAMM shows?

Well, figure that J/C is - what? - maybe 5% to 10% of Fender's total production? That means, ballpark, we might only need $25 to $50 million for J/C alone. I'm in!

They probably wouldn't part it out. We'd have to do that once we buy the whole chalupa.

Well, as long as the deal works in a license to do stratheads, that's fine with me.

Jackson custom shop orders will flood the office when this news gets spread.

Well, all of MY Jacksons are pre-Fender-for-sale rumour...so that makes them better than the ones coming out now.
