Re: Fender for sale

Regardless of what does/doesn't happen or your personal thoughts of this event which may or may not come to pass, think about this:

No companyinvestor/group is going to front $500 million dollars and ruin a part of that conglomerate. It doesn't make sense.

I think Fender did some great things with Jackson and is continuing to do so. They have gotten Mike Shannon back and some others on this side of the fence and the Custom Shop lead times have dropped significantly from what I understand.

I think it is best to sit back, drink a cold one or roll a hog leg (if you are into that kinda thing) and see what happens.

If anything does happen, roll with the changes. There are bound to be growing pains and issues, but there always is in any capital venture.

Just my $0.02 worth (which means absotively nothing )

            Re: Fender for sale

Fender overextend themselves on puchases? What purchases? Jackson? HA! Believe me, if I'd known I could have got Jackson for the price they paid, I'd have taken out a loan and found some investors.

Fender isn't hurting. How the hell COULD THEY? They're basically CNCing money down in Mexico, and anytime someone needs a new car they just come up with another limited edition to get the collector's pants going crazy. No, I highly oubt they're hurting. Tekky's right on this one (A RARITY! ). This, if true, is just the current owners looking to cash out and rake in massive dollars.

Anyone that buys the company would continue business as it's been going. There's no doubt about that. Why fuck up a good thing?

              Re: Fender for sale

My vote is Yamaha to buy so that they could have a very strong amplifier line and it would also be a huge F U to all other competitors. It is estimated that Gibson does about $165 - $190 mil in annual sales. Fender does $250 mil plus. I doubt Gibson could handle that purchase.

With Fender's existing Mexico facilities, there is no need to do the cost-cutting bullshit that CBS did during the 70's. I doubt we'll see any more three bolt necks.

Thank God I am going to put in a Custom order very soon. Last time I put an order in at the time of the Fender buy out, it took me over a year to get a Black SL2H I feel a little better now Jack.

Line 6 is in the financial toilet, and they will be lucky to keep themselves afloat. If they can stay in business it will be a miracle, forget about buying a company the caliber of Fender.

I can see it now. They could put Fender up for sale on E-Bay. "Here is a golden opportunity to own one of the great names in music: FENDER." OK guys, how should the listing read. Should there be a BIN?

Now, I'm eyeballing all sorts of line 6 heads. They better pay me to not buy one or their company will surely fold when I do
