What artist is this?

I very rarely listen to the radio but today I did. I heard this song that had a really cool riff but they never said the artist name after the song was over. I get home and pick out the majority of it. It goes something like this: mystery riff

The singer sounded a lot like the singer of Smashing Pumpkins, but I don't know for sure.

I can't remeber the name of the song but it is the Smashing Pumpkins.
