• Re: c\'mon jose, don\'t fukk up

Apparently the press is saying Nomar told management his Achilles was feeling tight and wanted to sit out a few games. To further add to that he wanted to go on the DL for all of August so IF the sox had a chance in Sept he would be able to play healthy.

They were also saying he hasn't been the easiest guy to get along with in the clubhouse this year. I guess you combine these things with the probability that he wasn't going to re-sign with the RedSox it is probably the smartest move to make. I certainly think they could have gotten more for him but I tend to agree the sox are lacking defensively and not on offense so these moves do make a bit of sense.

With Lowe,Varitek,Perdro and Nomar up for contract we knew someone or even 2 were gone this year...

This in no way means I wanted to see Nomar go and he is one of the reasons I had become such a rabid Boston fan over the last several years ...

I've read a few articles now that have said that Nomar was feeling "disenfranchised" with the Sox, how he didn't think they had a shot or truly cared, things to that extent.

i have to echo that... i first was interested in them in 99. i was flipping channels and they were in the playoffs. nomar was all over the place, and just kicked so much ass defensively and offensively. i wasn't super into baseball, but man, they had so much heart. fast forward to last season.... kev and i talk on the phone pretty often, and we'd wind up talkin about baseball pretty regularly. so... my red sox fan status had a lot to do with nomah... and kev

          Nomah nomo.

Even from a Yank fan's perspective, this wasn't a great trade.

yeah, they couldn't have let someone like nomar walk away and get nothing in return. I would have rather seen someone like Lowe go though...

Well at least you red sox guys don't have to live everday knowing you traded lowe, and varitk for Hethcliff Slocomb. And david ortiz for dace hollins. The Mariners screwed up big time in the late 90's

Welcome to Larry Lucchino baseball Lev. He F'ed Baltimore up. Now it's the Red Sox turn. Chemistry looked a lot better today. Another loss for Pedro and dropping quickly in the standings. I have never heard anything other than comments about Nomar being a professional from his teammates. The media and owners are the ones that wanted Nomar gone and pretty much forced him out. Mark my words that Pedro is next. They won't resign him at the end of the season.

Yeah Kev I know what the media said. But they are scumbags. They cut bits and pieces of conversations to make it look one sided. I couldn't believe that even Remy was talking ill of Nomar. Maybe it's something I didn't see that went on inside the clubhouse. But until they start playing different then they have it's hard to blame the losses on Nomar. They looked like the same Red Sox to me yesterday. He may have been one of the more quite ones and kept to himself, but that isn't a good reason to start dogging him and say he isn't a team player.

Just as long as he isn't pitching against the Red Sox he should be fine. Here's an article that sheds light on Nomar and the Red Sox chemistry in the clubhouse. And this is the only opinion that matters as far as I'm concerned.
