Re: Expose your JCF bruthas to a new band!

this may be a horrible question, but anyone got anything that's not extreme metal?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well if you like your metal on the punk side check out these...

StretchArmStrong
I highly reccomend picking up A Reveloution Transmission. It's one of my favorite non-shred albums.

Terror
Another one of my favorites. Their album Lowest Of The Low kicks huge ass.

Also checkout Madball and Sick Of It All. I don't have time to find links right now. Just do a search.

Throbbing Gristle - It might just scare you. (or make you puke) "D.O.A. The Third and Final Report of"

Mundane - Droning, tribal, heavy as a lead turd. "SEED"

Orbital - Get high first. "Diversions"

Space - Think Blur on way too many hits of acid. "Spiders"

Malhavoc - Heavy, weird, funky, and dark. "Get Down" is awesome.

Sugar - Bob Mould from Husker Du. Very melodic songs that you WILL sing along to. "Copper Blue"

The Crumbsuckers - Old school crossover. Very intense, and heavy. What's that I hear? PIANO?!!! "Beast on my Back"

porcupine tree is good, i had a disc of theirs 4 or so years ago. they reminded me of..oh crap, what was it...kinda pink floydy, yet ambient?

bowery electric rules; listen to a song called freedom fighter.

thanks for the suggestions!

don't forget workbook (poison years, brasilia crosses trenton), black sheets of rain (title track, the last night, disappointed), or the last dog and pony show (vaporub, new #1, moving trucks). bob's a GREAT fuckin writer, and sounds a little like ozzy at times! Aren't California Guitar Trio and Discipline former Robert Fripp students? I know CGT is. Acoustic guitars tuned CGDAEG and outfitted with the Novax fanned fret thingy. That sounds like some fun right there.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes, they are. I first heard of them and saw them when they opened for Dream Theater in 99. They impressed the hell out of me live. Their studio stuff is not as impressive, but they go all out when they play concerts. Mostly acoustic.

Petrucci stood at the side of the stage and watched their whole set, and joined them at the end to play some shit. Its the only time I've ever heard him play acoustic.
