Gene Simmons is somehow my idol and the person I most want to smack in the face. He's a total whore, and he admits to it, and I respect that. But he's also an unrelenting douchebag. As for Paul Stanley... the only good thing ever associated with him is the PS10. *hugs his PS10*

Cheap Trick could kick Kiss's ass any day of the week. I mean... Rick Nielsen lives in Gary, Indiana. That takes balls.

Oh, Poison sucks less than Kiss only because CC is funnier than Paul Stanley's insistence on pretending he's not gay.

If they want to tour, let 'em. Everybody
knows Ace and Peter aren't there; if they go to see 'em, fine. If you don't want to see 'em without Ace and Peter, stay home. Ace and Peter were never the best players, not that Gene and Paul are, but
KISS is more of a circus act than a rock band anyway. Tommy Thayer, mediocre though he is, is still good enough to take Ace's place, even if he DID order spaghetti for Criss. That whole gripe is just elitist; the guy was tour manager for KISS and Gene's PA before that; he can't get a promotion? He DID play guitar for Black N Blue who did a couple albums yeas ago, so it's not like he doesn't have professional experience.

Re: Kiss and Poisen playing in Phx,Arizona

i actually have no issue whatsoever with them touring with singer and thayer; i just think it's lame to their legacy and their fans to put some other dudes in makeup that ace and peter created. it's uncool, you gotta admit that.

i'd also say that there are plenty of people who don't know that it's not ace and peter; at least that's my experience when people ask me if i'm going to see them whenever they come to town these days.

tommy's a good player, it's just lame that gene and paul think so little of their co founders of the band that they feel that they can just dump anyone in their makeup. you know that rule wouldn't go for them, either.

anyway, that's my .02

Maybe they'll be added as an Animatronic display at DisneyLand - "Pirates of the Music Industry - or - How Western Civilization was raped and ripped for 20 years"

As for replacing Ace - was the guy any good? I mean, yeah he can play, but is he so definable that no one can duplicate him? Not from what I've heard, anyway, but I've also read that most of the studio tracks were Bob Kulick anyway

I don't see it as a question about Ace and Peter being co-creators and are now being defamed by someone else wearing their makeup. Gene and Paul muscled control away from Ace and Peter, probably due to their uncontrollable drug/alcohol problems. I'd do it too if it was the best way to guarantee my personal career survival. What if Ace had a full 1/4 voice in KISS' affairs? What if he had traded something that affects everyone else's business interests for a dimebag and an 8-ball?

ace really played his stuff with the exception of sweet pain, (destroyer) the studio portion of alive II with the exception of rocket ride, and psycho circus with the exception of into the void. bob kulick played on paul's solo album; even though their styles are similar, you can easily tell the difference.

It's funny, when Creatures of the Night came out, even as a kid I remember thinking "gee, that doesn't really sound like Ace, but he's on the cover so it must be, I guess he is being experimental with this one".

I was duped. Never again.

one of my all time favorite ace frehley solos is the one in flaming youth. simply brilliant.
original kiss, original halen, of course they toast the second lineups, and third, and fourth, fifth, and sixth.

i think you can even buy KISS PISS now on their website-lol
it wouldn't surprise me.

Thanks for the links and explanation. I don't mean to take sides, but jsullysix's explantion seems to be the most feasible to me. So it's the 1980's all over again and only 1/2 of KISS? BS!

One question about this:
http://www.roadrun.com/blabbermouth....wsitemID=15184

How the hell did Gene and Paul end up owning all four costume/make-up designs, including Peter and Ace's? God damn I HATE bands like that where one or two members rule over the rest with a iron fist.

IF Gene did indeed kick them out because of drugs, the that's still BS. Drugs are an ethical issue, and so is rampant promiscuity. Simmons has no right to act all self-righteous towards the others when he's far from a saint.

don't feel bad, i'm rarely wrong about kiss crap!

yes, gene owns the rights to the makeup and costumes. back in the day, each person had the rights to it, but i believe that peter kept his for a long time, but i think that ace sold his rights. kev knows about this, maybe he'll chime in.

as far as kicking people out b/c of substances, i see your point, but i don't necessarily think it's an ethical issue when you have to pick up slack that they may create, so to speak.

As others have pointed out, there's gonna be slack because of their age and regardless of drugs. It's unavoidable. It's just that KISS the corporation is so hell-bent on delivering the product to it's customers (which is what Gene is treating their music as) that it craps on it's lowly employees, which in the end is all Criss and Frehley are.
