• Uh Oh - 5.5 Games Ahead

I've been waiting to see if the Yanks could pull this far ahead, and last night they finally did it. Seriously, I think this is one of those little milestones that should be a warning sign for the Sox. I think if they can basically keep the lead to 5 games-ish or more - give or take - the Sox are in real trouble.

See 'ya in the Championship Series. (Again.)

"Give or take" the Yankees have beat the Sox once this season. And how many more games do they have to play against them? Isn't it a bit early to get all cocky? Bats you have. But your pitching staff is slowly going to hell. Just like predicted. The Sox always suck mid season.

And isn't that basically how last season played out, too? Sox took the early series, Yanks the later one.

I totally agree that pitching is the Yanks weak point. Been saying that myself before the season even started. But if they can shore it up with some new blood, watch out.

Not getting cocky, mind you. This won't be any easier than last year. But I think that, when a season is over and a championship is won, you look back at the year and see where some crucial points were. Little milestones that made a difference. And when they get added up, those were the difference. This is potentially one of those.

Still 91 days of regular season left. The Yankees improved from being down quite a bit in the beginning of May. So can the Sox. Last years championship results were based on one bad decision. Personally with all the Sox injuries I'm amazed they are where they are now. No doubt the Yankees have an amazing offensive lineup. But you can't tell me the Sox don't. It's going to come down to what team pulls it together between now and the post season for sure. At this point I wouldn't be so certain you'll see either of our teams in the world series. You have three teams in the west that are keeping pace. Oakland has the pitching, Texas has the small ball game and the Angels just have it period. If you ask me if the Angels make it to the post season things could go bad quick. And let's not forget a determined Lou Pinella is kicking some major ass in the wins department lately. Ten and a half games isn't impossible to make up at this point. And if they stay on a roll they could be the team to catch very shortly. Look at what the Giants did. They sucked in the early season and came back for the lead.

Well you also have to view things this way ..

So far the Yanks have only taken 1 game from the sox and even tho they are 5.5 games over the sox .. The redsox still have the 3rd best record in all of baseball.. I think what will be a big factor is how the Yankees play the sox the rest of the year now and it won't be determined by other teams series ..

With that said it should be interesting because the Yanks bats were silent within those first series ..now they are hitting better ..should be a great baseball summer
