  • CD Scratch Repair.

Anyone know of any techniques to fix minor disk scratches/scuffs? My son lent his Tony Hawk PS2 disk to a friend, who proceeded to scratch the heck out of it.

Stilletto Duece 1/2 Stack, MkIII Mini-Stack, J-Station, 12 spaces of misc rack stuff, Sonar 4, Event 20/20, misc outboard stuff...

Why do I still want MORE?

I've seen several scratch remover formulas or devices in electronics stores. I've always wondered if it's just this generation's "snake oil".

Sometimes you can clean up a disc on a buffing wheel, but you have to be careful.

            Wetsanding.

I know its a bit extreme, but video games aren't cheap.

Theres a cd doctor out there, that is like $19.95 or so, that does exactly that. Wetsands the cd...just resurfaces it. Works pretty good... from what I hear.

As long as you can' see thru the sratch, its repairable. So, unless that game of his was a burnt copy, its repairable I've never seen a scratch deep enough on a pressed cd that goes the the data. Then again... kids do strange things.

Well, my little dude was seriously bummed. I had heard that rubbing toothpaste on the disk might smooth out the scratches.

              It actually fuggin worked.

auto wax, or a mild abrasive car polish. If you can hold the disk up to the light and see holes in the silver... you're fucked.

Another vote for car polish (T-Cut) I've cleaned up several CDs DVD's and Games with that.

I have used Brasso, and it works great. I would imagine any rubbing compound should work.

Seriously guys I have over 5000 CDs ...I use a little rubbinjg alcohol in any fine mist sprayer and a very soft , non abrasive , lint free rag like the kind you wipe off your eye glasses or gutair with and you wipe it gently in a straight line from the center to the edge in a straight line ...
