Re: Shipping Cabinets
In this case, size matters. If they are really, really big you may have to have them crated and shipped by truck/rail. When I worked at a thriftstore, we had to ship speakers cabs the size of refrigerators to Korea, of all places. We found a shipper that came out and packed them up and took them away. Very smooth, put very expensive.I am a true ass set to this board.

Re: Shipping Cabinets
If you're talking about packaging it, I'd say go to an appliance store and get a box for a washing machine or dryer, then cut it to size and tape the shit out of it. If the grill isn't metal, cut a couple extra pieces of cardboard to protect the grill and speakers. Use a handtruck to take it to the car and then to Fedex. Fedex is about 1/3 less than UPS if you can use them, but they will need the contact phone # for the person they deliver to, or if he's not there when they come they'll send it back to you if they can't reach the recipient.
With UPS it'd probably cost near $100 to ship a fullsize 412 cab from NY to NO; with Fedex Ground, probably $60-$70. Still a chunk of change, but less than UPS anyway. Either way you have to go to a real Fedex or UPS depot, not a drop ship at a drug store.
Good luck!

Re: Shipping Cabinets
aaah, all right then. i was wondering if there was anything special about it as far as say peanuts or such. i'd only go to the FedEx shop that's set up down the way next to the Post Office.
well then, seeing as how i have the original boxes the shits came in, looks like it'll be relatively easy. just gotta' pick up the fuckin' bubblewrap and away i go. thanks fella's.
