• Roland makes an 8-track with CD-burner and Drum unit...

...but after a search of Ebay, Roland's website, AMS, and MF, I'm left scratching my head. My Uncle says he found one in a Guitar Center in Louisiana for $1000. I know I can find him one cheaper, but I wanna make sure it's the right one.
I found this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

And another one had a BIN of $400 (was gone by the time I opened the link).

Since I don't have Roland gear (Akai DPS12), do you guys and gals know if Roland had/has another similar unit that now sells for less than $1000 and includes the 8 track recorder/mixer, built-in CD-R(RW, whatever) and has an onboard drum machine (he also said this one comes with a case and the effects board that makes an electric sound like an acoustic).

Newc, is it possible that he was looking at the Boss BR-1180CD? It sounds very close to what you're describing in price & features. From what I saw at MF, the case & board are options, but the unit has guitar amp modeling built in. Boss is part of Roland, and some sites list the Boss products as Roland/Boss, so this might be what he saw at GC.

I think for sure he said it didn't say Boss on it, but then again you never know. I wasn't there so I didn't see it, and once you start looking for them online you see tons of similar items.

Thanks

Well that sucks - They show the Atomic amp In Stock but it won't let me add ANYTHING to my Cart (not even the $5700 Strat). I turned off ZoneAlarm, left, came back and still it won't work. AMS' site works fine

Dammit I want one of those combos

I had one of the Boss combos and hated it. Its a jack of all trades, but its also a master of none. I still dont see how anyone could actually use that pathetic drum machine...........Seperate components is the way to go...........

Yeah but he's more of a doodler now than he was back in the day - he's happy with something that just gives a beat that he don't have to be a rocket scientist to use, but still sounds halfway decent
