Okay, I've been playing for about 82000 years. Okay, more like 10-11-12, I don't know. I can play pretty much whatever I want, within reason. There are some things that are just too crazy complex.
One thing is though, if I hear things on the radio, I pick up the main riff, or melody line, and just play it, and don't learn the song. Years, and years of this, I don't know as many songs as I should, and can play ability wise. I've only learned what I've been personally interested in, and what the band has played.
All of that said, I'm interested in hearing what you think that rock players/metal players should have in their libraries of music they can play. If I think of all the songs I can play, it's several hundred, but I don't know them all the way through (meaning what I didn't pick up on the radio or whatever, not the solos), when I actually go to the songs I know completely, It's a much smaller number. Give me some of your thoughts, and thank you in advance.
