Majica is kinda weak. Killing the Dragon is better. I can't stand Goldy's playing at all. I love Aldrich's playing.

I agree Majicka is VERY weak, yes, and that KTD is better, yep.

Goldy is great player, I found his playing very subdued on Majicka. But,I saw him smoke that material with much intensity live and was very impressed with how good he was. Definitely a class act metal god live.

Aldrich is a certainly a great player even though his solo album sucks balls. But he REALLY needs to quit playing Stevie Ray blues solo rippoffs at a metal show, that was really stupid and ruined the Dio Vibe totally. I saw a lot of people bitching about that at the last show I saw with him. He should go play with the Eagles, or maybe a world class SRV tribute.

As for Tracy G... I hate when I see a pro band, and know in my heart that I can truly smoke the lead guitarist who is ruining the solos to a lot of great classic songs. That's pretty bad when some loser from Cleveland can outshred you.

Tracy does his own weak stuff just great, but live, he ruined all the solos that some true guitars gods played on albums with Dio. A travesty IMO. Glad he's gone, but, he'll be back when Ronnie pisses off the other guys and needs a hack to tour with him.

By the way, I love RJD very much. He is pretty much the voice of heavy metal.

Magica is boring! I can't make it to the end of that one without dozing off.
Killing The Dragon is much better. A solid Dio album.
I agree that live Doug was not metal enough for Dio. Plus he was in a foul temper for the gig in Belgium, cursing at his tech and looking like somebody had just stolen his beer or something. He went through the motions, but there was very little fire.
My favourite Dio live guitarist is Craig Goldy. He's the most Blackmore of them all, down to the black tights (ugh, mental note : don't stand on the first row on Craig's side of the stage ever again!)
And Tracy G... wel, we all make mistakes I guess.
