        Probably somewhat of a sign that we should at least re-do "that" particular song, professionally recorded with a good drummer. Shame we didn't have enough of that sort of material to do a whole CD, haha...

        It was hard enough for Bill and I not to kill each other at that time long enough to get that tune out! hehehe... Truly hard to melt styles (and personalities!)like Bills and mine together, every moment was an arguement, but some cool stuff came from it.

        Guess that is how it works, either of us apart is "ok" but together it can be very cool at times.

        Thanks for posting those, Bill. I'll have a metal fest with it tomorrow.
        I don't know how long it has been since the two of you have collaborated, but I definitely think that if you're feelin' it that you should give it a go, even if it's just the one song.
        I would love to see you produce something, it would be awesome. Wish I could get you out here!
        You have some killer material to work with and perhaps the two of you are more on the same page now. John adds his flavor, Bill adds his flavor, Ty rounds it out. It's all good! I know finding a drummer has been a real bitch. Sometimes karma has a way of tossing something tasty your way, so who knows? [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

          thanks Emmy..that's how I feel about it. Yeah geting a good drimmer would be to bad I guess just to do some dtudio work..There is a couple good was that already offered to lay down the drums in a studio..I just wanted someone availuable for a band..a real honest to godness band..to play some gigs onve in a while..But I'll take what I can get to be honest..

            The Marines woke me up this morning at about 0500. They're playing war games and shooting blanks at each other. Listening to them shoot their weapons you can hear how well trained they are, just by listening to how well they control them. Pretty awesome. I could hear one team with whoever was in charge barking orders. I love our military. [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

            Anyway.
            Still sick. Holy crap, it's like my head has been possessed! But I am slowly getting better. I am rarely sick and if I do get something it only lasts for a day or so, so this is new. I cannot sit still at all, I'm a pretty hyper person. So I make myself get better just so I don't have to sit around. I do love my blankie though. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
            Still, I'm gonna have to miss my Muay Thai kickboxing class tonight. On second thought, maybe a swift kick to the head will solve my problem. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

              Seriously, how can anyone not like tool? You'd have to be a fool. They are evil though. They make me wait years between CDs. It's pure torture.

                Here are my thoughts.

                Scapegoat and FF are the best. Cool bass thing on the FF.
                The singer is great. He shouldn't do those cookie monster things, there are too many of those bands, the world needs more bands with real vocals.
                I don't like tremolo picking, it sounds very odd to me. It doesn't have the heavyness and the groove. I turns me off.
                The Riffing is cool as fuck.
                Dime-ish solo/intro on the scapegoat is badass.
                The leads are quiet, but I can hear some cool things, the vibrato is in tune, cool, and you like the whammy bar [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
                John should collabra on some songs, he is a sickass player.

                One thing I also like to add....
                Bill you haven't used your full potential when making riffs.
                Seriously, you are amazing bass player, you have THE GROOVE.
                Use that.
                You know why I like John Petrucci? It's not because of his lead playing, it is because of his rhythm playing. He can make VERY groovy rhythms. The best exaples are "Lie" and "Caught In A Web". This is the metal rhythming I enjoy the most.
                You can do that, you have more potenital for making groovy rhythms than most of the guitar players.
                Why was Nu metal so popular?
                Nu metal bands usually had a solid rhythm section, the guitar players weren't technically very good, so they played the same thing that the bass player was doing and WOILA, groovy rhytyms. And people liked that groove, baggy pants and rapping wasn't the reason why those bands got big.
                Groove is the key no matter what music it is. My favorite rhythm player is Nuno Bettencourt, he has the most technical riffs but at the same time he is very groovy, there is a lot of funk in him. Combaining those elements will make music sound much better.

                  Thanks Big E ..But PLEASE , PLEASE ..keep in mind I can NOT use my "full Potential" on a 4trk tape recorder..therefore NO solos at all..these are just the meat and potatoes of the song "ideas"..in a studio..I could go NUTS and I will..

                  On this tape I had ONE track to counter rythm the parts. There fore ANY solos you hear (like that dimish one ) is shared with the vocal trck..I had to hurry and jump out before the vocals came in of course..it's his track. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

                  BTW E , How do you like "Death Perception"..it is a "DEATH" metal song with CLEAN vocals..now THAT is a twist..ehh.. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

                  I wrote that song with that Swedish death thing in mind..At The gates / Soilwork ect..but TY wanted to sing instead of growl..he's the singer..let him "sing".

                  he wanted to give death vox a stab..so that's how High Speed Death Roll came to be..I can't really hear that song with clean vox now..maybe we'll try it..it's a very aggressive song so..Ty figured he'd try it on that one ..doesn't hurt to try.

                      Bill, Death Perception has some cool moments, the vocals are good. You can use real singing in a very agressive song, this is the perfect example of it. But I don't really like swedish death and whatnot, I like US thrashing stuff, also I would really like to hear some groovy riffs, play some of your groovy bass rhythms with guitar, that would be cool as hell.

                        yeah E , it's swedish thrash style with "agressive" not harsh vocals..I never heard anyone do that really..

                            All I have is that basement demo of those fours songs. I wish we could get this off the ground and go to a real studio ..Maybe eventually..hopefuly ..yes? [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

                            I have a couple other songs I'm working on and a few worked out solos to the songs on that demo..not enough tracks to put them down.
