  • now, i know there are lotsa people who can't understand this, but i do not like heartwork. i mean, it's better than necrotism (the other carcass record i own) which is total shit imho, whereas heartwork is OK at best, but imho it's nowhere near the be all end all death metal record it's said to be.

    • Fragle you don't like heartwork...well that's cool I guess..

It's one of my many faves.

I like it because it paved the way for better things to come, and it's my favorite Carcass cd ..it was one of those records that inspired a lot of the new wave of swedish death thrash movement..along with ATG, Dark Tranquility and so on..it has earned it's place in metal, and does serve as one of many benchmarks..

whenever I shop for metal on line..They always use the heavy hitters whenever describing a band...and that one comes up alot..

There is so many metal "landmarks"..and I don't love all of them

You may not like it much but there prolly is bands that you do like that was inspired by it..maybe even your bandmates.

I don't expect everbody to hold any band or genre of music in the same regaurd..

I'm a perfect example of that...I loathe Pearl Jam and about 99.1% of mainstream bands, but they're the best things since sliced bread to alot of people here..but I can't see the facination..

art is in the eye of the beholder..and there's an art to beholding the eye..

      ..or something like that!

      • yep, i totally agree with you, it surely is a milestone in metal. but as you said, that doesn't mean everybody HAS to love it

it's kinda like the early cannibal corpse stuff. the first 4 records (up to the bleeding) really are what made the band what it is today, the most popular death metal band ever. i mean, just go up to some random kid and ask him about death metal. i can assure you he won't know about carcass, at the gates, obituary etc, but he surely will know cannibal corpse.
having that said, i don't like any of these records except for a few songs (e.g. hammer smashed face). i think that the more recent "insane" stuff is much more interesting musically, and listenable as far as vox go. i hate barnes

"You may not like it much but there prolly is bands that you do like that was inspired by it..maybe even your bandmates."
yup...my drummer loves carcass, my lead guitar player actually thinks the first 3 corpse albums are the best ones (yep that's the same guy who said that at the gates is boring and just bad in general)......mh, kinda seems like my bandmates and i are not quite on the same page musically speaking

        • Yeah, I was thinking Cannibal Corpse..they are one of the hardcore metal bands that pop their head up from the underground without any media support whatsoever..like Morbid Angel..Deicide and so on..

Grindcore is my least favorite metal genre..it seems that in my 25+ years of metal exploration..there seems to be alot of d-grade pollution..garage cailber bands that's best left in garage with the spare tires and lawnmower ...to me it is the "rap" of metal because any chimp can do it poorly and they most certainly do....I bought alot of real "boners" in that catagory..Grindcore seems to attract the most crap IMO..and when you do hear a good one..it's nice!

          • i always thought the point of playing in a grindcore band is to make more noise/less music than the grindcore stuff you're listening to

Just because it bashes and shreiks and growls doesn't mean it's cool..there's so many dudes that are in that shit that truly suck ass..well that's why they play Grindcore..it is the "rap" music of metal..

Grindcore is the equivalent to monkeys finger painting!

Hack ..ahemmm.."musicians" that want to be in a "band" play Grindcore..it's that fuggin' simple..:ROTF:

What makes it even funnier is that theyr'e serious..

Grindcore is the down syndrome of metal!!

Grindcore is the bottom of the metal food chain..

Grindcore bands haul their equipment in a short bus..

Grindcore bands are Jerry's Kids with an attitude!!

Grindcore bands are the special olympics of metal..

Oh man, I can go all fuggin' night!!

I'm throwing pearls here..you know it's funny when you make yourself laugh your ass off!!

                    • I attended the AHA Fun In The Sun kit car show (Assoc. of Handcrafted Automobiles) Sunday - only 200 entrants and about 70% were Cobras...so it was kinda boring. I didn't take any pics but I'll post a link to sites that did. Factory 5 was there in full force, with 2 trailers, they even brought a GTM, which was really popular. They were letting people sit in it too!

I knew they would be there..very popular kit!!

The two main Cobra kits now are Factory 5 and Super Performance..

So, what did you think of them?

                        • Well F5 has had lots of success, mainly because they came up with the plan to use late 80s Mustang 5.0 parts to complete a Cobra for a lot less $$ than the other cos were. I like their other cars better, the Daytona coupe is a lot prettier than a Cobra IMO. The GTM is totally hot (uses Corvette C5 parts & motor), but I really like the Spyder GT styling the best. It's sort of a cross between cool 60s Ferraris California Spyder GT and the 250GTO.

                          • Yeah, They are VERY nice..That The GTM with the Corvette C5 drivetrain is expensive complete tho...unless you build it yourself..which I can't do because I truly suck..I couldn't even build a model of it..I have a model..it's still in the box..

I always had the hots for a Cobra tho..I never thought I would own one..it was a goal I guess..that or a Viper..I'm really glad I went with the F5 in hindsight..I would do it again in a heartbeat..

John is going to fuck with it this Summer..we'll do something to it..not sure what yet..thinkin' Vorteck..but it's just a bone stock 5.0...alot of them use the 4.6..ewww..I don't know why..

I would like to put a 427 in the fucker really..that would rule!!

Soon as I saw it..it was "I'll take it"!
