Bill, IMO, they feel like ESP LTD's, when they were doing purple burst bengals. I was very dissapointed. I have played one that looked like Robin Crosby's, from when he was recording a solo, while IIRC wearing an olive green hoody at a one of his friend's studios.

I have also played a Mattias EKlundh 'Apple horn' signature model. I new nothing of the artist, but it looked so freakin' cool, save for the 'elf cap' headstock. I thought cool- A Hamer Californian meets a soloist and has a 3 way with Smurfette! It left me flacid, appreciating what a killer deal Jackson Stars are in comparison.

My friend owns a high end/ vintage/ boutique shop, here. Before I had the opportunity to play one, I asked about ordering an IA in for me to try. He just laughed and in English, said, "piece of shit". Those are strong words to come from an aging Japanese business man. But then again, he is most amused by my Charvel fetish.

looks...pretty cool, I love the Snow Cloud Horus the most


sound - I've tried two, one was horus one was delinger, horus sounded better, it was kinda like import jackson, delinger was like a cheap LTD, both had lousy clean tones.

well OK doesn't suffice for that price..

When I went to GC for my son, I played about 5-6 various ESPs to buy for Vinny..I was so undecided..

Then I spotted a metallic blue dinky body Jackson with a reverse pointy and a floyd..I grabbed it asked how much..$300 !!! ..well, I got a little discount.!!!

It's "crafted in India"..but I plugged it it and it was a no brainer..it smoked all the $500+ ESPs I was trying..big time.

In fact that guitar is one of the best playing guitars I ever bought..the kid loves it..I tuned it to D..and I play it all the time..

I have guitars I don't play..maybe I'll just grab one of those and enjoy it before I buy another one I don't play...

I DO want a 7 string..what's THE best 7 string for the $$$..Ibanez..ESP...Schecter ..you tell me..something between 400-700 bucks..I don't need a fancy top of the line Jem...even tho that would be nice.

Just a good solid 7 string that plays, and sounds nice!!

I have a cheapass SX 7-string from Rondo Music. I tuned the B down to A for a Drop-A tuning, like Drop-D but 5 1/2-steps lower. This gives me a droptuned root-5-octave powerchord capability on my lowest 3 strings, but I have a 6-string in standard E tuning on top. Does that make sense? The hardest thing is when you go for a riff that's in open E NOT hitting the bottom string. I don't how if 7-string players do that, but I didn't get it to learn Korn songs, just to goof around and come up with downtuned riffs of my own.

It's pretty cool to be able to play fast downtuned power chord riffs, then solo on a standard tuning. YMMV but I don't care about mastering the existing 7-string repertoire.

Bill, I'm with you, I don't see why a bass has to be with 5 strings???? The low B is so low that the sound engineers cut it out anyway and all the pros are playing 90% of the time with 4 stringers anyway.

And I perfer 7 string over downtuned 6 string because I always need screaming high notes for leads.

I saw a pic recently of Doug Wimbish jamming with some other bassist. The other dude had this wide plank of a 9 stringer, and Doug's 4 string looked anorexic next to it!

But Doug still manages to make those 4 strings sound like a whole band by himself.
