Bill, my friend needs a good bass cabinet but the local stores don't have much to offer. One of them sells Carvin gear though and since you are a Carvin fan, wich cab. would be the best?

He just ordered a G&L L-2500 bass and Ampeg SVT3 Pro and plays the same shit as you....funk-slap, jazz, fusion etc.

These are the cabs Carvin offers, I'm not sure wich spekers would be the best, 10" or 15"?

E..Go with thishttp://www.carvin.com/products/singl...0.4NEO&CID=BRX ....for the top, but go for the 18" cab for the bottom..either bi-amped or bridged..I always went bi-amp and tweaked my crossover to blend what I needed..which was a little more bottom cab than top cab 10" "bite"..and definition..The 18" is the best bass speaker in the biz..you can't blow them and they will NOT fart..I had four of them..I mean you can NOT blow them..I blew thru many 15"..even EV prolines..which these speaker are actually designed after..The 18 just punch you in the balls ans are so much more reliable and best of all no break up or farting whatsoever..so get this for the bottom..but the 18" version.. http://www.carvin.com/products/singl...r=BR115&CID=BA

If he needs a SMALLER rig..the 18" with the 2x10" would be cool..especially if his Ampeg has a varibale crossover..like a balance control for both cabs..because the massive power handling of the 18" could take the blunt of the power without risking the 10's at all..
an make sure he sets the impedience correctly..some dude John and I know blew up a Carvin Red Eye Stack by fuckin' up..you can't fuck up a Carvin rig..unless you fuck it up...

Hope that helps..That 8 10 would be cool for a bridged set up..but I had a couple Ampeg 8 10 cabs..fuck that..that shit is wayyyyyy too heavy!!

I thought the Carvin cabs sounded better anyway..
