Btw. I have tried them with maple and rosewood boards. I always like maple more... on guitars and basses. Look and tone wise I'll usually go with the maple.
Rosewood is a lot warmer sounding wood. Awsome for fingerstyle playing... specially for jazz-fusion.
Maple is a lot harder wood... and brighter wich sounds awsome for slapping and harmonics. Most of the slap monsters I've seen are using basses with maple boards.
But owning 'em both would be the best idea
